GPS‐tracked yellow‐legged gulls from urban (Porto) and natural (Berlenga) colonies showed contrasting foraging strategies. Urban gulls remained near cities and followed human routines, while natural gulls foraged farther and used marine habitats. Abstract Urbanisation has led to increased populations of opportunistic species like gulls, driven by the ...

Complements and coregularity of Fano varieties
We study the relation between the coregularity, the index of log Calabi–Yau pairs and the complements of Fano varieties. We show that the index of a log Calabi–Yau pair $(X,B)$ of coregularity $1$ is at most $120\lambda ^2$ , where

A horospherical variety is a normal algebraic variety where a reductive algebraic group acts with an open orbit which is a torus bundle over a flag variety. For example, toric varieties and flag varieties are horospherical. In this paper, we classify Fano horospherical varieties in terms of certain rational polytopes that generalize the reflexive ...

Thermoplasmonic Response of Non‐Noble Metal Core–Shell Nanostructures for Solar Energy Harvesting
The plasmonic properties of Non‐Noble metal@Fe2O3 shell under visible and near‐infrared spectrum were calculated to quantitatively assess the photothermal conversion capability. The plasmonic response intensity and shell thickness relationship were analysed, and the maximum photothermal conversion and plasmonic intensity were summarized.

Merging van der Waals Materials and Optical Metasurfaces for Cavity Quantum Electrodynamics
Flat optical metasurfaces supporting quasi‐bound states in the continuum (qBIC) enable cavity‐like, high‐Q resonances in ultrathin nanostructures. This perspective explores the emergence of cavity quantum electrodynamics in qBIC metasurfaces, specifically those made from ultrathin van der Waals nanostructures, where cavities and emitters are seamlessly

ABSTRACT The BETTER4U project (Preventing Obesity through Biologically and bEhaviorally Tailored inTERventions for You) is a Horizon Europe initiative (GAP 101080117) dedicated to advancing our understanding of the multifaceted etiology of obesity. The project aims to move beyond current knowledge of obesity‐related determinants by examining the system‐

Geometric classification of 4d N=2 $$ \mathcal{N}=2 $$ SCFTs
The classification of 4d N=2 $$ \mathcal{N}=2 $$ SCFTs boils down to the classification of conical special geometries with closed Reeb orbits (CSG). Under mild assumptions, one shows that the underlying complex space of a CSG is (birational to) an affine

Bound States in the Continuum in Metasurface Absorbers: A Comparison with Metasurfaces
Bound states in the continuum (BICs) offer a powerful mechanism for enhancing light–matter interactions. This work systematically investigates the radiation characteristics of BICs under both transmission and reflection configurations using multipolar analysis.
