Analysis of the Seismic Demand of High-Performance Buckling-Restrained Braces under a Strong Earthquake and Its Aftershocks

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2019
The analysis of the ductility and cumulative plastic deformation (CPD) demand of a high-performance buckling-restrained brace (HPBRB) under a strong earthquake and its aftershocks is conducted in this paper.

Control Performances of Friction Pendulum and Sloped Rolling-Type Bearings Designed with Single Parameters

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Owing to quite different features and hysteretic behavior of friction pendulum bearings (FPBs) and sloped rolling-type bearings (SRBs), their control performances might not be readily compared without some rules.

Solution‐Processed Two‐Dimensional Indium Oxide on Sodium‐Embedded Alumina for Reconfigurable Optoelectronic Synaptic Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Wafer‐scale two‐dimensioanl In2Se3 oxidized into InOx on sodium‐embedded beta‐alumina enables multifunctional reconfigurable electronics. Sodium ions accumulate within distinct spatial distribution under drain‐controlle and gate‐controlled operation. Drain‐control operation gives controllability of ultraviolet‐driven optoelectronic synaptic conductance

Texoskeletons: Developing the Fundamental Technologies for Creating Intelligent Soft Robotic Clothing With Integrated 1D Sensors and Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Traditional wearable exoskeletons rely on rigid structures, which limit comfort, flexibility, and everyday usability. This work introduces the fundamental technologies to create the first soft, lightweight, intelligent textile‐based exoskeletons (Texoskeletons) built using 1D sensors and actuators.

Seismic response analysis of continuous highway bridges under near-fault ground motions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Ground motions in proximity to the causative fault of an earthquake are significantly affected in many cases by forward-directivity effects. The resulting seismic action on bridge is characterized by an important pulse type motion that is not considered ...

Exciton Binding Energy of Phosphorescent Emitter Molecules in Organic Light‐Emitting Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Energy level alignment is key to efficient OLED design, yet determining LUMO energies remains challenging. A methodology based on field‐induced dissociation and kinetic Monte Carlo simulations is presented to extract LUMO energies of iridium‐based phosphorescent emitters from their exciton binding energy.
