[18F]Fluorodeprenyl‐D2 PET as a Tool to Monitor Disease Activity in GAD65‐Ab Autoimmune Encephalitis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate [18F]fluorodeprenyl‐D2 ([18F]F‐DED) positron‐emission tomography (PET) imaging as a biomarker of disease activity in autoimmune encephalitis (AIE) associated with glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 (GAD65) antibodies. Methods [18F]F‐DED PET was performed in 25 GAD65‐AIE patients and 8 controls using dynamic (0–60 min) and ...

Monochromatic Light Interactions in the Early Hypocotyl Elongation of Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) Seedlings

open access: yesInternational Journal of Plant Biology
Sunflower is a crop species well adapted for cultivation in open fields under full sunlight. Young plantlets can be grown in growth chambers under low irradiance, where different aspects of light can be easily tracked.

Enhancing Growth and Morpho-physiological Traits of Tissue-cultured Explants of Persian Walnut through Manipulation of In vitro Lighting Spectra [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Nuts
There are numerous challenges associated with the large-scale production of walnut In vitro-plantlets. It is imperative to develop new environmental control systems for its In vitro propagation.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

The Effects of Blue Light and Supplemental Far-Red on an In Vitro Multiple Harvest System for the Production of Cannabis sativa

open access: yesPlants
Blue and supplemental far-red light were observed to affect in vitro shoot growth with Cannabis sativa (‘BaOx’ and ‘Cherry 1’) in RV750 vessels. A modified “hedging” and fed-batch system for multiple harvests using Oasis® foam and 120 mL DKW medium was ...

Far‐red light enhances photochemical efficiency in a wavelength‐dependent manner

open access: yesPhysiologia Plantarum, 2018
Linear electron transport depends on balanced excitation of photosystem I and II. Far‐red light preferentially excites photosystem I (PSI) and can enhance the photosynthetic efficiency when combined with light that over‐excites photosystem II (PSII). The efficiency of different wavelengths of far‐red light exciting PSI was quantified by measuring the ...

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Phytochromes facilitate social behaviour in marine diatoms

open access: yesNature Communications
The phytochrome superfamily comprises photosensory proteins that enable organisms to perceive changes in light intensity and quality and is widespread across plants, fungi, algae, and microbes.

Application of Raman and Photoluminescence Spectroscopy to MgO‐C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Visible to near infrared luminescence of MgO is studied on MgO‐C bricks and nominally pure MgO powder, with focus on two similar sharp high‐intensity signals, at 699 and 871 nm, each surrounded by symmetrical sidebands. The nature of these sidebands is investigated by temperature‐dependent spectroscopic measurements, confirming phonon involvement by ...
