Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Time-of-flight resolved light field fluctuations reveal deep human tissue physiology. [PDF]
Red blood cells (RBCs) transport oxygen to tissues and remove carbon dioxide. Diffuse optical flowmetry (DOF) assesses deep tissue RBC dynamics by measuring coherent fluctuations of multiply scattered near-infrared light intensity.

An Arabidopsis Mutant Hypersensitive to Red and Far-Red Light Signals [PDF]
A new mutant called psi2 (for phytochrome signaling) was isolated by screening for elevated activity of a chlorophyll a/b binding protein-luciferase (CAB2-LUC) transgene in Arabidopsis. This mutant exhibited hypersensitive induction of CAB1, CAB2, and the small subunit of ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase (RBCS) promoters in the very low fluence ...

We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Quantification of non-Q B -reducing centers in leaves using a far-red pre-illumination [PDF]
An alternative approach to quantification of the contribution of non-QB-reducing centers to Chl a fluorescence induction curve is proposed. The experimental protocol consists of a far-red pre-illumination followed by a strong red pulse to determine the ...

Radial Velocity Curves of Ellipsoidal Red Giant Binaries in the Large Magellanic Cloud [PDF]
Ellipsoidal red giant binaries are close binary systems where an unseen, relatively close companion distorts the red giant, leading to light variations as the red giant moves around its orbit.

Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.

Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Creation of a Bose-condensed gas of rubidium 87 by laser cooling
We demonstrate direct laser cooling of a gas of rubidium 87 atoms to quantum degeneracy. The method does not involve evaporative cooling, is fast, and induces little atom loss.

Three-Color Protein Photolithography with Green, Red, and Far-Red Light. [PDF]
AbstractProtein photolithography is an invaluable tool for generating protein microchips and regulating interactions between cells and materials. However, the absence of light‐responsive molecules that allow for the copatterning of multiple functional proteins with biocompatible visible light poses a significant challenge.
