Asymmetric reduction of farnesol
Tetrahedron, 1986Abstract Asymmetric hydroboration-oxidation followed by reductive deoxygenation has been used to bring about the asymmetric hydrogenation of simple trisubstituted olefins. This technique has been illustrated by the preparation of (R)-(-)-6,7,10,11-tetrahydrofarnesol.

In this study we provide evidence for the first time that rat liver microsomal and peroxisomal fractions are able to phosphorylate free farnesol to its diphosphate ester in a CTP dependent manner. The farnesyl diphosphate (FPP) kinase activity is decreased in whole liver homogenates obtained from rats treated with cholesterol and unchanged in ...

The investigation of in vitro effects of farnesol at different cancer cell lines
Microscopy research and technique (Print), 2022Farnesol (trans, trans‐3,7,11‐trimethyl‐2,6,10‐dodecatriene‐1‐ol) is an essential oil component that can be found in a variety of plants. In this study, in vitro effects of farnesol on human lung cancer A549 cell line, colon adenocarcinoma (Caco‐2) cell ...

Biofouling (Print), 2022
Many biofilm studies have focused on axial biofilms, however biofilms in nature and in vivo environment are multi-species. Farnesol is a sesquiterpene alcohol found in many essential oils.

As farnesol may serve as a nonsterol endogenous regulator of the mevalonate pathway, the possibility that a kinase specific for its phosphorylation is present in the rat liver was investigated. In the 10,000 g supernatant of rat liver, farnesyl monophosphate was synthesized in the presence of ATP. The Km value for farnesol was 2.3 microM.

ELECTROPHILE INDUCED CYCLIZATION OF FARNESOL
Chemistry Letters, 1972Abstract The cyclization of farnesol with BF3 etherate in dichloromethane solution afforded α-cedrene, 2-epi-α-cedrene and five new hydrocarbons of muurolane type together with isomeric bisabolenes, α-curcumene and δ-selinene. The structure determination of the new compounds and the formation mechanism of cyclized products are presented.

Neuropharmacological properties of farnesol in Murine model.
Iranian journal of veterinary research, 2016Research on new compounds of therapeutic value for behavioral disorders has progressed recently. Several studies have reported neuropharmacological activities of plant derived terpenes. Farnesol is a sesquiterpene whose most popular source is fruits but the anxiolytic activity for farnesol is still unknown.

Absence of farnesol salvage in Candida albicans and probably in other fungi
Applied and Environmental MicrobiologyFarnesol salvage, a two-step pathway converting farnesol to farnesyl pyrophosphate (FPP), occurs in bacteria, plants, and animals. This paper investigates the presence of this pathway in fungi.

Biosynthesis of 2-cis-farnesol
Journal of the Chemical Society, Chemical Communications, 19732-cis-Farnesol and trichodiene are formed by a cell-free preparation from Trichothecium roseum, from all-trans-farnesyl pyrophosphate with the unexpected loss of a 5,5-3H2-mevalonoid tritium label.
