Fascia and friends

open access: yesThe Clinical Journal of the International Institute for Bioenergetic Analysis, 2023
According to Wilhelm Reich, character structures and their underlying unresolved conflicts are fixed in chronic muscle tensions in early childhood. Fascia research, on the other hand, shows that these psychogenic chronic muscle tensions are fixed in the fascia system.

The effect of fascial manipulation therapy on lower limb spasticity and ankle clonus in stroke patients

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Translational Myology
Lower limb spasticity and clonus are common sequelae after cerebral stroke. An important part of their etiopathogenesis has been related to the peripheral component of spasticity. Rheological properties of the tissues seem to be involved.

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.
