IGR J18483-0311: a new intermediate supergiant fast X-ray transient

open access: yes, 2008
IGR J18483-0311 is a high-mass X-ray binary recently discovered by INTEGRAL. Its periodic fast X-ray transient activity and its position in the Corbet diagram - although ambiguous - led to the conclusion that the source was a likely Be/X-ray binary (BeXB)

Fast Time Structure During Transient Microwave Brightenings: Evidence for Nonthermal Processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Transient microwave brightenings (TMBs) are small-scale energy releases from the periphery of sunspot umbrae, with a flux density two orders of magnitude smaller than that from a typical flare.

Fast coupled transient load flow

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems, 1995
Abstract A fast decoupled load flow for transient stability studies is developed. A decoupled differential generator model is derived using the Newton-Raphson technique and trigonmetrical transformations of voltage and angle variables. A voltage/angle-invariant modified Jacobian is defined and the need for Jacobian refactorizations minimized ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

The FAST technique: a simplified Agrobacterium-based transformation method for transient gene expression analysis in seedlings of Arabidopsis and other plant species

open access: yesPlant Methods, 2009
Background Plant genome sequencing has resulted in the identification of a large number of uncharacterized genes. To investigate these unknown gene functions, several transient transformation systems have been developed as quick and convenient ...

Control Design and Realization of a Fast Transient Response, High-Reliability DC-DC Converter With a Secondary- Side Control Circuit

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
In high-reliability applications, DC/DC converters should realize high-efficiency and fast-transient in harsh environments. Thus, the circuit parameter design and the reliability design are both critical.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Research on fast real-time calculation model for transient temperature rise of power cables in ducts

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2021
A straightforward and fast transient temperature rise calculation model is necessary for electrical engineers to manage power cable load. A self-heating lumped parameter model (LPM) without the requirement of monitoring cable surface temperature is ...

IGRJ16479-4514: the first eclipsing supergiant fast X-ray transient?

open access: yes, 2008
Supergiant fast X-ray transients are a new class of high mass X-ray binaries recently discovered with INTEGRAL. Hours long outbursts from these sources have been observed on numerous occasions at luminosities of ~1E36-1E37 erg/s, whereas their low level ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...
