Investigating cortico‐subcortical circuits during auditory sensory attenuation: A combined magnetoencephalographic and dynamic causal modeling study

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 41, Issue 15, Page 4419-4430, October 15, 2020., 2020
We examined auditory sensory attenuation using a combination of magnetoencephalography (MEG) and computational modeling. Our data show that sensory attenuation is mediated by bottom‐up and top‐down information flow in a thalamocortical network, providing support for the role of predictive processing in sensorimotor systems. Abstract Sensory attenuation

Objective assessment tools in laparoscopic or robotic-assisted gynecological surgery: A systematic review. [PDF]

open access: yesActa Obstet Gynecol Scand
There is a plethora of objective assessment tools in minimally invasive gynecological surgery. Further validation of already existing tools and integration of advanced technologies like kinematic data, should increase the usability in training curriculums.

Modeling Previous Trial Effect in Human Manipulation through Iterative Learning Control

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 2, Issue 9, September 2020., 2020
Three mathematical models are proposed to predict learning‐by‐repetition human behavior in a balance task with an object of unexpected mass distribution. Models combine reactive terms, learned anticipatory action, featuring intratrial and intertrial memory, and the effect of sensory receptors.

The mediating effect of green innovation on the relationship between green supply chain management and environmental performance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The emerging environmental awareness of the public, as well as the implementation of governmental regulations, force organisations to employ corporate environmental practices such as green supply chain management (GSCM) and green innovation. Accordingly,

Sex differences in brain connectivity and male vulnerability in very preterm children

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 41, Issue 2, Page 388-400, February 1, 2020., 2020
Abstract Evidence indicates better cognitive and behavioral outcomes for females born very preterm (≤32 weeks gestation) compared to males, but the neurophysiology underlying this apparent resiliency of the female brain remains poorly understood. Here we test the hypothesis that very preterm males express more pronounced connectivity alterations as a ...

Functional network dynamics in a neurodevelopmental disorder of known genetic origin

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 41, Issue 2, Page 530-544, February 1, 2020., 2020
Abstract Dynamic connectivity in functional brain networks is a fundamental aspect of cognitive development, but we have little understanding of the mechanisms driving variability in these networks. Genes are likely to influence the emergence of fast network connectivity via their regulation of neuronal processes, but novel methods to capture these ...

Peer-to-peer:is deviant behavior the norm on P2P file-sharing networks? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
P2P file-sharing networks such as Kazaa, eDonkey, and Limewire boast millions of users. Because of scalability concerns and legal issues, such networks are moving away from the semicentralized approach that Napster typifies toward more scalable and ...

Strategic science planning for responsible stewardship and plant protection at the U.S. Department of Agriculture

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 2, Issue 1, Page 53-56, January 2020., 2020
Agricultural systems—including forests, crops, and rangelands—represent managed ecosystems supporting human values and needs, such as the production of nutritious food and feedstock, and the protection of watersheds. As such, agricultural systems provide an excellent microcosm for interrogating challenges at the interface of plants, people and the ...

Wireless sensor networks and structural health monitoring: Experiences with slab track infrastructures

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2019
Slab track systems have the potential to become a more sustainable option for high-speed railway infrastructures than traditional ballasted tracks. Traditionally, the systems that monitor these infrastructures have been costly, but advances in the last ...
