Perirenal fat thickness measured with computed tomography is a reliable estimate of perirenal fat mass. [PDF]
Deposition of perirenal adipose tissue has been associated with adverse renal and cardiovascular events. We compared various methods to measure perirenal adipose tissue using computerized tomography (CT)-scan and performed correlations with ...

Faster magnetic resonance imaging in emergency room patients with right lower quadrant pain and suspected acute appendicitis [PDF]
Purpose: Emergency Departments (ED) are becoming busier, with a resultant increase in the number of imaging referrals. The purpose of this study was to assess the diagnostic accuracy of an abbreviated two sequence magnetic resonance (MR) protocol for ...

Epicardial fat thickness in patients with rheumatoid arthritis
Epidemiologic data indicates that rheumatoid arthritis is an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Epicardial adipose tissue is a novel cardio-metabolic risk factor. Our aim was to evaluate epicardial fat thickness (EFT) using echocardiography in patients with rheumatoid arthritis compared to healthy control subjects.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Genetic parameter estimates for plasma oxidative status traits in slaughter pigs [PDF]
The aim of the present study was to assess the effect of sex and to estimate genetic parameters for several traits related to plasma oxidative status in slaughter pigs, i.e., ferric reducing ability of plasma (FRAP), concentrations of a-tocopherol and ...

Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.
