Augmentin‐induced jaundice with a fatal outcome

To report a case of death due to Augmentin-induced cholestatic hepatitis and discuss a possible drug interaction between Augmentin and oestrogenic steroids.An 81-year-old man, on oestrogen therapy for prostatic malignancy, presented with obstructive jaundice one week after completing a four-week course of Augmentin for recurrent urinary tract infection.

Paucisymptomatic Dermoid Cyst with Fatal Outcome

AbstractDermoid cysts of the central nervous system can cause devastating complications because of the mass effect of meningitis due to sinus tract. We report the case of a 5‐month‐old girl who presented with a crusted lesion of the occipital region of the scalp. Clinical examination noted skin abnormalities suggestive of occult dysraphism.

Fatal Outcome of Echovirus 7 Infection

A Case of Sotalol Poisoning with Fatal Outcome

The case of a 58 year old woman who died after ingestion of 14.4 g of sotalol and 50 mg of triazolam is described. The clinical and histologic changes occurring with antibiotic-associated pseudomembranous colitis are usually reversible with discontinuation of the causative medication. The spectrum of disease patterns ranges from a benign form to a very fulminant and occasionally fatal one. This report describes a child with a severe form of the disease.

Hemiplegia-hemiconvulsion-epilepsy syndrome is characterized by prolonged unilateral clonic seizures in a child followed by the development of hemiplegia. Focal status epilepticus results in unilateral cerebral edema of the epileptic hemisphere in the acute phase followed by cerebral hemiatrophy.

Fatal outcome of Bacillus cereus septicaemia.

Bacillus cereus is a ubiquitous environmental micro-organism which is often a contaminant of clinical cultures. Infections due to B. cereus are described, but mostly in immunocompromised patients. We report a fatal outcome of B. cereus septicaemia in an immunocompetent patient with a mechanical mitral valve.
