The summation of fatigue damage
Strength of Materials, 19751. Using the energy approach here proposed, we have derived an equation for the summation of fatigue damage. As rupture criterion we take part of the total energy dissipated by unit volume of the materials. 2. The linear hypothesis and the hypothesis of Cortain and Dollan represent limiting forms of the resultant equation for materials ...

Cyclic flexural load tests of simply supported beams under central concentrated charge were performed, for two different concrete Young modulus. The strain at the most tensioned fiber was measured during experiments. A model for cumulative damage which is proportional to the strain was used to present the results.

Dissipation and fatigue damage
Materials Testing, 2004Abstract The discussion of fatigue damage is generally separated in two domains: Low Cycle Fatigue (LCF) and High Cycle Fatigue (HCF). The transition zone concerns the case of limited endurance, while the unlimited endurance is generally assimilated with HCF.

Fatigue Damage Map as a Virtual Tool for Fatigue Damage Tolerance
2009Using only readily available material properties and the concept of dislocation density evolution ahead of the crack tip, the fatigue damage map attends to develop a virtual tool able to predict the limits and the corresponding crack tip propagation rates characterising each of the fatigue stages, namely crack arrest, microstructurally and physically ...

Abstract In this paper the problem of cumulative fatigue damage is considered. On the basis of the invariable succession postulate and the invariable damage postulate, a general form for a one-damage-parameter cumulative-damage model is developed. It has been shown that some of the models previously proposed can be obtained as a particular case of ...

Fatigue and thermal fatigue damage analysis of thin metal films
Microelectronics Reliability, 2006In this paper, we summarize several testing methods that are currently available for the characterization of fatigue properties of thin metal films. Using these testing methods, a number of experimental investigations of the fatigue and thermal fatigue of metal films with thicknesses ranging from micrometers to sub-micrometers are described.

The plane frame version of a steel jacket platform is analysed by mode acceleration method. The local stresses in the joints of an offshore structure subjected to random wave/current load are derived from the nominal stress response of the structural members using the stress concentration factors.

Minimizing Fatigue Damage in Aircraft Structures
IEEE Intelligent Systems, 2016Aircraft structural health monitoring (SHM) refers to a process in which sensors assess the current (and predict the future) state of a structure in terms of its aging and deterioration to assure users or operators of its safety and performance. In addition to preventing failures, SHM extends aircraft life cycles. Consequently, adopting SHM is strongly

Creep Damage and Creep-Fatigue Damage
2011A time-dependent deformation occurring in a material subject to load for a prolonged period of time is called creep. In a narrower sense, creep means a time-dependent deformation caused by a constant stress or a constant load. Materials undergoing creep for long time are often accompanied by time dependent internal deterioration.

A conceptual definition of fatigue damage is proposed to assist in the selection of measurement techniques and parameters for correlating damage with fatigue life. To illustrate the concept, a critical review of some typical damage parameters for composite materials is given.
