A Theory of Fatigue-Damage Accumulation in Steel
Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1955Abstract At present, there is no theoretical method for predicting the change in the endurance limit of steel specimens subjected to various numbers of cycles of overstressing at different stress levels. The theoretical and most of the experimental work accomplished thus far has been concerned with studying the change in endurance life ...

Dilational damage accumulation during fatigue of polypropylene
Journal of Materials Science, 1987Plastic deformation in spherulitic polypropylene includes a component of dilatational strain. Residual volume changes have been measured as a function of uniaxial strain for tension, compression and cyclic tests. In compression, the volume changes were measured during the test while the specimen was under had and the stress maximum was found to be ...

A modified nonlinear fatigue damage accumulation model
International Journal of Damage Mechanics, 2014This paper presents a modified nonlinear fatigue damage accumulation model accounting for load interaction effects. The original model is based on physical property degradation of materials, from which the load interaction effects are ignored. However, the load interaction effects have a significant influence on the fatigue life.

A General Theory of Fatigue Damage Accumulation
Journal of Basic Engineering, 1969The aim of this presentation is to develop a general linear theory of isotropic cumulative failure. This involves a phenomenological consideration of fatigue damage accumulation under very general conditions. In order to accomplish this, it is necessary to extend the basic notion of cycle-dependent behavior for a harmonic stress variation to more ...

A theory of fatigue damage accumulation and repair in cortical bone
Journal of Orthopaedic Research, 1992AbstractAn analysis is presented of the balance between the accumulation and repair of fatigue damage in osteonal bone. Fatigue damage is defined in terms of cracks seen histologically when precautions are taken to avoid preparation artifact. The rate of occurrence of such damage is assumed to be proportional to the product of applied peak‐to‐peak ...

Deformation Based Fatigue Damage Accumulation Model
Solid State Phenomena, 2015This paper reports results of fatigue testing performed under fully reversible, load controlled uniaxial tension-compression. For this scheme of loading definition of relative damage indicator and cumulative damage indicator parameter was given and changes of such parameters during the life of the material were shown for two grades of steel.

EVALUATION OF FATIGUE DAMAGE ACCUMULATION BY ACOUSTIC EMISSION
Fatigue & Fracture of Engineering Materials & Structures, 1994Abstract—Improvements in acoustic emission (AE) test techniques have lead to developments whereby reliable acoustic emission measurements as a fatigue damage indicator were made at room temperature on Incoloy 901 smooth specimens, over a stress‐ratio range of −1.0≤R≤0.2.

Damage Accumulation Methods in High Temperature Fatigue
Canadian Metallurgical Quarterly, 1979AbstractVarious methods for high temperature fatigue and fatigue-creep interaction life prediction are reviewed, such as the linear damage rule, frequency modified strain range and strain range partitioning. Nonlinear damage accumulation is also explained and considered. Where possible, these methods are used to analyse the results of strain controlled

Accumulative Fatigue Damage Caused by Random Loading
Journal of the Aerospace Sciences, 1959Equations for the bending yield modulus become very complicated for cross sections other than rectangular if the Hill stress-strain relation is used with Eq. (2). A simple approximate solution for sections symmetrical about the axis normal to the plane of the bending moment may be obtained by using the Cozzone method for plastic bending.

Fatigue Damage Accumulation Mechanisms in Monolithic Alumina
2002The characterization of damage accumulation processes in monolithic ceramics under cyclic loading is important towards the understanding of the mechanical behavior of structural ceramics that would ultimately be exposed to actual field environments. To this end, our study examines the role of microstructural mechanisms that control the fatigue damage ...
