Eye blink based fatigue detection

open access: yes, 2016
This master thesis analyses possible approaches for eye fatigue detection based on eye blinking. We have found multiple approaches for eye blink detection. The approach based on consequent images acquired from a video camera is the least invasive for the user and does not require additional hardware, hence we analysed multiple methods of this approach.

Ion‑Mediated Structural Engineering of Hydrogel Interfaces for Tunable Mechanical and Analyte Diffusion Properties in Electrochemical Biosensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An ion‐mediated structural engineering strategy enables versatile modulation of PVA–Alginate hydrogel microstructure. We systematically examine how different ion combinations affect hydrogel mechanical properties and analyte diffusivity. Applying this novel strategy to hydrogel as the outer membrane in an electrochemical glucose biosensor allows ...

Porous Hybrid Soft Actuators From Liquid Crystal Networks and Lyotropic Chromonic Liquid Crystal Templated Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The graphic illustrates the design of a hybrid bilayer composed of a liquid crystal hydrogel (LCH) and a liquid crystal network (LCN). The figure highlights the magnetic alignment of the chromonic hydrogel and the thermal‐responsive actuation of the LCN along with the LCH when both layers are aligned or misaligned, enabling programmable, light‐driven ...
