Effect of Quenching Media and Tempering Temperature on Fatigue Property and Fatigue Life Estimation Based on RBF Neural Network of 0.44 % Carbon Steel [PDF]

open access: yesMechanical Sciences, 2019
In this work, the effect of the quenching media (brine, water, and two types of naphthenic mineral oils) and the tempering temperature (200, 400, 600 ∘C) on the static mechanical properties and the fatigue life has been investigated using 300 ...

Fatigue Life Assessment of Key Fatigue Details of the Corroded Weathering-Steel Anchor Boxes of a Cable-Stayed Bridge

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
In order to study the influence of corrosion on the fatigue life of weathering steel bridges, firstly the nominal stress method is employed to identify the key fatigue details of a typical weathering-steel anchor box of a cable-stayed bridge and then, a ...

Unheard and Under‐Supported: Health‐Related Quality of Life in Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults With Sickle Cell Disease

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Sickle cell disease (SCD) is an autosomal recessive hemoglobinopathy affecting millions of individuals worldwide. The clinical expression and psychosocial burden of SCD vary widely across geographical, cultural, and healthcare system contexts, underscoring the need for setting‐specific approaches to assessment.

Criterion‐Related Validity of the Neuropsychological Quick Assessment for Screening Cognitive, Motor, and Behavioral Impairments in Patients With Pediatric Brain Tumors: An Observational Pilot Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neuropsychological complications may impair the qualitative prognosis of patients with pediatric brain tumors. However, multifaceted evaluations cannot be conducted in all patients because they are time consuming and burdensome for patients.

The effects of fiber load and frictional work on fatigue behavior of water hydraulic artificial muscles in underwater environment

open access: yesResults in Engineering
Water Hydraulic Artificial Muscles (WHAMs) exhibit characteristics of high pressure and substantial load capacity. In previous work, the fatigue life of WHAMs under elastic load has been investigated, and experimental results have indicated that the ...

Parent Quality of Life at Two Years Following Their Child's Completion of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Treatment

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Parents of children treated for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) often experience significant caregiver burden and disruption to their well‐being. While parent quality of life (QoL) during treatment is well characterized, little is known about outcomes during early survivorship.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Statistical Distribution of Fatigue Life for Cast TiAl Alloy

open access: yesJournal of Aeronautical Materials, 2016
Statistic distribution of fatigue life data and its controls of cast Ti-47.5Al-2.5V-1.0Cr-0.2Zr (atom fraction/%) alloy were investigated. Fatigue tests were operated by means of load-controlled rotating bending fatigue tests (R=-1) performed at a ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Predicting and Comparing the Subjective Health Experience of Older Cancer Survivors and Non‐Cancer Survivors: A Modeling Approach

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This study underscores the significant influence of frailty and vitality on the subjective health experience of older cancer survivors with acceptance and control emerging as salient mediators. These findings affirm the conceptual and empirical robustness of the model highlighting its potential utility in shaping future interventions for older cancer ...
