Fatigue Reliability Functions

Journal of Vibration and Acoustics, 1989
There are many fatigue test and statistical procedures to establish the life distribution function Q = Q(N) at constant stress (S) level. But the stress distribution function, Q = Q(S), at specified life (N) is more important to the designer, and it remains less developed.

Fatigue Crack‐Growth Reliability

Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 1990
A method is shown for estimating the reliability of structural components subject to fatigue crack growth. The method is general in that it can be used in conjunction with any crack-growth law and either first- or second-order reliability techniques. The initial crack length, final crack length, and crack-growth parameters are taken as uncertain with ...

Marine Component Fatigue Reliability

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1993
A method is presented for evaluating the fatigue of offshore structural steel members based on structural component reliability procedures coupled with spectral analysis methods. The approach is based on formulating a nonlinear performance function that expresses the cumulative fatigure damage in the form of Miner's rule.

Fatigue reliability

Progress in Structural Engineering and Materials, 1998
AbstractThis review summarizes the state‐of‐the‐art in fatigue reliability. Reliability analysis methods must be tailored to unique characteristics of the fatigue process, eg complicated limit‐state formulations and large‐variance random variables. Methods discussed include the lognormal format, a closed‐form method that has proved to be extremely ...

Fatigue reliability of steel bridges

Journal of Constructional Steel Research, 1999
Abstract A fatigue reliability analysis is performed for steel girder bridges. The data base for the live load model is obtained by weigh-in-motion (WIM) measurements. Bridge structures were selected to determine the site-specific truck parameters and component-specific stress spectra. Stress cycles are presented as cumulative distribution functions.
