Behavior of H-FABP-fatty acid complex in a protein crystal simulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Crystallographic data comes from a space-time average over all the unit cells within the crystal, so dynamic phenomena do not contribute significantly to the diffraction data. Many efforts have been made to reconstitute the movement of the macromolecules and explore the microstates that the confined proteins can adopt in the crystalline network.

Plasma lipidomic and metabolomic profiles in high‐grade glioma patients before and after 72‐h presurgery water‐only fasting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

The absolute rate of fatty acid synthesis by mammary gland slices from lactating rats

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1976
Mammary gland utilizes a combination of substrates in vivo. To determine if and how the substrates presented to the gland alter milk fat synthesis, slices of mammary gland of lactating rats were incubated with combinations of glucose, L-lactate, and ...

Thermal proteome profiling and proteome analysis using high‐definition mass spectrometry demonstrate modulation of cholesterol biosynthesis by next‐generation galeterone analog VNPP433‐3β in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated level of cholesterol is positively correlated to prostate cancer development and disease severity. Cholesterol‐lowering drugs, such as statins, are demonstrated to inhibit prostate cancer. VNPP433‐3β interrupts multiple signaling and metabolic pathways, including cholesterol biosynthesis, AR‐mediated transcription of several oncogenes, mRNA 5′

Decreased hepatic production of very low density lipoproteins following activation of fatty acid oxidation by Ro 22-0654.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1985
In fed rat livers perfused with [1-14C]oleic acid, Ro 22-0654 (4-amino-5-ethyl-3-thiophenecarboxylic acid methyl ester hydrochloride), an inhibitor of fatty acid synthesis, activated ketogenesis and decreased the secretion of triglyceride in very low ...

Targeting the AKT/mTOR pathway attenuates the metastatic potential of colorectal carcinoma circulating tumor cells in a murine xenotransplantation model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

Role of fatty acid synthesis in the control of insulin-stimulated glucose utilization by rat adipocytes.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1981
A decreased capacity for fatty acid synthesis is associated with a decreased insulin effect on glucose metabolism in large fat cells and fat cells from rats fed a high-fat diet.

The combinatorial multitude of fatty acids can be described by Fibonacci numbers [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
The famous series of Fibonacci numbers is defined by a recursive equation saying that each number is the sum of its two predecessors, with the initial condition that the first two numbers are equal to unity. Here, we show that the numbers of fatty acids (straight-chain aliphatic monocarboxylic acids) with n carbon atoms is exactly given by the ...

Pharmacological effects of osimertinib on a chicken chorioallantoic membrane xenograft model with the EGFR exon‐19‐deleted advanced NSCLC mutation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Osimertinib reduces angiogenesis and PDL1 expression in in ovo tumors, transforming them into ‘cold tumors’ with lower immune activity. Anatomopathological and transcriptomic analyses highlight its therapeutic impact on tumor biology. This study underscores osimertinib's potential to reshape the tumor microenvironment and provides insights into its ...
