The Lancangjiang fault zone (LCJFZ) is a major crustal-scale fault system that traverses the Sichuan-Tibet traffic corridor. Determining its late Quaternary activity is thus crucial for assessing seismic hazards and guiding the planning of this critical ...

Investigation of active tectonic evidence and characteristics of the Kushk fault zone and vulnerability of rural settlements, Qazvin province [PDF]
This paper investigates the activity of Kushk fault through field observations of landslides related to the activity of the Kushk fault and other evidence of its activity, and the location of rural settlements in the study area of the Kushk fault has ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

The influences of crustal extension, salt tectonics and gravity-driven deformation on the structural evolution of the Halten Terrace, offshore mid-Norway: new sights from 3D seismic data and fault analysis [PDF]
Normal fault zones play a fundamental role in the development of sedimentary basins and in the migration and trapping of hydrocarbons. The idealised geometry of an isolated post-sedimentary normal fault (Barnett, 1987, Walsh & Watterson, 1989) existing ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Breaking up the hanging wall of a rift-border fault: The 2009 Karonga earthquakes, Malawi
The southern East African Rift has an unusually large seismogenic thickness (35–40 km), which is responsible for wide tilted basins and extremely long faults with the potential for M7-8 normal-faulting earthquakes.

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
