Partial FAK suppression promotes tumor growth, an effect reversed by macrophage p110δ PI3K inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Partial inhibition of focal adhesion kinase (FAK) can paradoxically promote tumor growth, rather than simply producing a weaker antitumor effect than that observed with strong FAK suppression. In breast cancer and melanoma models, targeting p110δ PI3K, particularly in macrophages, counteracted these tumor‐promoting effects, highlighting the importance ...

Profiling neoadjuvant therapy response in rectal cancer using meta‐analysis of publicly available transcriptomic RNA‐seq datasets

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates publicly available transcriptomic datasets to identify molecular signatures associated with response to neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy in locally advanced rectal cancer. By analyzing a combination of multiple cohorts with bioinformatics approaches, we reveal biological pathways and immune‐related features that may improve ...

Optimal allocation of fault current limiters for sustaining overcurrent relays coordination in a power system with distributed generation

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2015
This paper addresses the problem of overcurrent relays (OCRs) coordination in the presence of DGs. OCRs are optimally set to work in a coordinated manner to isolate faults with minimal impacts on customers.

Improving fault ride-through capability of DFIG based wind generators by using bridge-type superconducting fault current limiter

open access: yes, 2015
This paper proposes series connection of a diode bridge-type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) with rotor side converter (RSC) of a double fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind turbine.

Current Limiting Characteristics of Parallel-Connected Coated Conductors for High-Tc Superconducting Fault Current Limiting Transformer (HTc-SFCLT) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We have been developing superconducting fault current limiting transformer (SFCLT) as a superconducting transformer with current limiting function. As the step-5 of the SFCLT project for the up-graded ratings of current and voltage, in this paper, we ...

Research Status and Perspective of Fault Current Limiter

open access: yesKongzhi Yu Xinxi Jishu, 2011
It summarizes the theory and categories of fault current limiter (FCL) as well as its key technologies, describes the research status and products of FCL both in China and abroad. Technical requirements of FCL in urban grid application are analyzed, upon

A study on required volume of superconducting element for flux flow resistance type fault current limiter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We have proposed a fault current limiter (FCL) suppressing an overcurrent only by a flux flowresistance of a high temperature superconductor (HTS). If the fault current is interrupted within an allowable time Tα after the fault occurs, the flux flow ...

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
