An ANN-based protection technique for MTDC systems with multiple configurations

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2023
A unified protection technique for different configurations of Multi-Terminal high voltage Direct Current (MTDC) systems is presented in this paper. The technique is based on using positive and negative poles’ currents of one end for each line.

Signal-based Technique for Fault Detection and Isolation of Inverter Faults in Multi-phase Drives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A method for fault detection and isolation is proposed and applied to inverter faults in multi-phase drives. An analysis of simulations in faulty conditions leads to the derivation of suitable fault indices.

A Method for Fault Detection and Isolation based on the Processing of Multiple Diagnostic Indices: Application to Inverter Faults in AC Drives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A general method for fault detection and isolation is proposed and applied to inverter faults in drives of electric vehicles. This method is based on a change-detection algorithm, which allows multiple fault indices to be combined for retrieving the most

The electric field in northern England and southern Scotland: implications for geomagnetically induced currents. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Magnetotelluric (MT) data, in the form of MT tensors, are used to estimate directly the size and spatial distribution of the electric field in northern England and southern Scotland with the aim of predicting the flow of geomagnetically induced currents ...

Impact of Inter-Turn Short Circuit in Excitation Windings on Magnetic Field and Stator Current of Synchronous Condenser under Unbalanced Voltage

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
Inter-turn short circuit in the excitation windings of synchronous condensers is a common fault that directly impacts their normal operation. However, current fault analysis and diagnosis of synchronous condensers primarily rely on voltage-balanced ...

Superconducting fault current limiter application in a power-dense marine electrical system

open access: yes, 2011
Power-dense, low-voltage marine electrical systems have the potential for extremely high fault currents. Superconducting fault current limiters (SFCLs) have been of interest for many years and offer an effective method for reducing fault currents.
