Fault diagnostics using sliding mode techniques
Control Engineering Practice, 2002Abstract This paper describes the application of sliding mode observation techniques to the problem of fault diagnostics. A specific diesel engine coolant system is considered. A non-linear sliding mode observer is used to monitor the system states.

Gaining diagnostic information for fault isolation
2013 IEEE International Conference on Information and Automation (ICIA), 2013Robots in dynamic and uncertain environments are vulnerable to mission failures due to external perturbation or internal malfunctions. Diagnosis is the process to detect, locate or even assess the fault. Since robots rely on their function modules to sense the external environment, it is difficult to locate the fault under uncertainties of robot ...

Diagnostic Test Generation for Arbitrary Faults
2006 IEEE International Test Conference, 2006It is now generally accepted that the stuck-at fault model is no longer sufficient for many manufacturing test activities. Consequently, diagnostic test pattern generation based solely on distinguishing stuck-at faults is unlikely to achieve the resolution required for emerging fault types.

Fin stabilizer fault diagnostic expert system
1997 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Processing Systems (Cat. No.97TH8335), 2002A fin stabilizer fault diagnostic expert system is studied. A classification method, "Classification-Unification-Reclassification" is proposed. Based on the physical structure of the fin stabilizer and the total classification arrangement, a levelled fuzzy inference model and a fault diagnostic method are given for fin stabilizers.

Neural networks for engine fault diagnostics
Neural Networks for Signal Processing VII. Proceedings of the 1997 IEEE Signal Processing Society Workshop, 2002A dynamic neural network is developed to detect soft failures of sensors and actuators in automobile engines. The network, currently implemented off-line in software, can process multi-dimensional input data in real time. The network is trained to predict one of the variables using others. It learns to use redundant information in the variables such as

Remote online machine fault diagnostic system
SPIE Proceedings, 2004The study aims at implementing a remote online machine fault diagnostic system built up in the architecture of both the BCB software-developing environment and Internet transmission communication. Variant signal-processing computation schemes for signal analysis and pattern recognition purposes are implemented in the BCB graphical user interface. Hence,

Fault diagnostic method for Ic engines
2019© 2019, Institute of Advanced Scientific Research, Inc. All rights reserved. This article describes methods of diagnosing of internal combustion engines (ICE). The conclusion is drawn that the majority of modern methods and ICE diagnostic devices don't solve fully a problem of determination of technical condition of the engine, often are labor ...

Energy Based Gear Fault Diagnostics
2008Gear mechanisms are widely used in rotating machinery. For this reason, gear health monitoring has been the subject of intensive investigation and research. Among several other methods, vibration measurement and analysis is considered as the most general basis for fault detection.
