Improvement and evaluation for algebraic fault attacks on PRESENT

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2016
An enhanced algebraic fault analysis on PRESENT was proposed.Algebraic cryptanalysis was introduced to build the algebraic equations for both the target cipher and faults. The equation set of PRESENT was built reversely in order to accelerate the solving ...

Persistent Fault Analysis on Block Ciphers

open access: yesTransactions on Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems, 2018
Persistence is an intrinsic nature for many errors yet has not been caught enough attractions for years. In this paper, the feature of persistence is applied to fault attacks, and the persistent fault attack is proposed.

Random Differential Fault Attacks on the Lightweight Authenticated Encryption Stream Cipher Grain-128AEAD

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Grain-128AEAD is a lightweight authenticated encryption stream cipher and one of the finalists in the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Lightweight Cryptography (LWC) project. This paper provides an independent third-party analysis of

Adaptive Observer for Coupled Wave PDE and Infinite ODE With Sampled Data and Unknown Input: Application to Brain Hemodynamics Estimation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.

Prime Masking vs. Faults - Exponential Security Amplification against Selected Classes of Attacks

open access: yesTransactions on Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems
Fault injection attacks are a serious concern for cryptographic hardware. Adversaries may extract sensitive information from the faulty output that is produced by a cryptographic circuit after actively disturbing its computation.

Memristor‐Driven Active‐Matrix Organic Light‐Emitting Diode for Energy Efficient and High‐Resolution Displays

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that memristors can replace conventional 2T–1C driving circuits with simplified 1T–1 m architectures by exploiting resistance switching. With ultra‐low switching voltages (< ±0.2 V) and multi‐level resistance states, the memristors precisely control the current injected into organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs).

Switching Off your Device Does Not Protect Against Fault Attacks

open access: yesTransactions on Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems
Physical attacks, and among them fault injection attacks, are a significant threat to the security of embedded systems. Among the means of fault injection, laser has the significant advantage of being extremely spatially accurate.

Differential Fault Attacks on Deterministic Lattice Signatures

open access: yesTransactions on Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems, 2018
In this paper, we extend the applicability of differential fault attacks to lattice-based cryptography. We show how two deterministic lattice-based signature schemes, Dilithium and qTESLA, are vulnerable to such attacks.

Experimental FIA Methodology Using Clock and Control Signal Modifications under Power Supply and Temperature Variations

open access: yesSensors, 2021
The security of cryptocircuits is determined not only for their mathematical formulation, but for their physical implementation. The so-called fault injection attacks, where an attacker inserts faults during the operation of the cipher to obtain a ...

A fast characterization method for semi-invasive fault injection attacks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Semi-invasive fault injection attacks are powerful techniques well-known by attackers and secure embedded system designers. When performing such attacks, the selection of the fault injection parameters is of utmost importance and usually based on the ...
