Fault Recovery Using Evolvable Fuzzy Systems

2007 IEEE Workshop on Evolvable and Adaptive Hardware (WEAH2007), 2007
Autonomous systems must survive for long periods without relying on humans for fault recovery. Faults may be impossible to analyze remotely and redundant hardware is frequently not allowed. The only recourse may be to replace the existing control strategy.

Fault-recovery and intelligent distributed system

Proceedings of the Twentieth International Symposium on Multiple-Valued Logic, 2002
A site of a distributed system can acquire new knowledge through learning from its closest neighbors. This new knowledge, stored at that site, is in a compressed form and is presented in the form of rules. In this way each site of the distributed system has some picture about the knowledge kept by its neighbors.

Simplifying semi-Markov fault recovery models

[1992] Proceedings IEEE/AIAA 11th Digital Avionics Systems Conference, 2003
The author presents computational techniques that extend and relate several approximation methods in reliability prediction and performance analysis. The approximation methods considered are those that tackle the problems that arise when a Markov or semi-Markov model has a mix of very slow rates and very fast rates.

Recovery testing for switch software faults

IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference GLOBECOM '91: Countdown to the New Millennium. Conference Record, 2002
Software fault insertion testing is emerging as a means to assess a switching system's ability to respond appropriately to software faults. The author presents a customer view of switching system software quality and testing in the field, which supplements the traditional supplier's view in terms of defects per line of code or window of stability of ...

Evaluation of Fault Detection and Fault Recovery of Microcontroller Dyad by Fault Injection

1998
Microcontrollers in dyad are used for increased reliability and fault tolerance. Depending on two types of software the behaviour of such system could be for increased persistency or for increased integrity. Redundancy is incorporated in software in form of time redundancy, data multiplication, retry etc.
