Optimized design of power loops for virtual synchronous generator to enhance transient stability

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
Abstract Virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control is an attractive method to solve the stability issues of future renewables (e.g. photovoltaic [PV])‐dominated power system. Unfortunately, a VSG is prone to transient instability under grid faults, and the existing work ignores the instability issues caused by current limitation and reactive power ...

DC‐link voltage stability enhancement in intermittent microgrids using coordinated reserve energy management strategy

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This article presents a solar energy microgrid designed to address DC‐link voltage instability in both grid‐connected and standalone modes. A reserve energy management scheme utilizing batteries and supercapacitors is developed to regulate DC‐link voltage, minimizing stress on capacitors and enhancing system reliability.

Neuro Fuzzy Logic Controlled Parallel Resonance Type Fault Current Limiter to Improve the Fault Ride Through Capability of DFIG Based Wind Farm

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Doubly fed induction generators (DFIGs) are vulnerable to grid related electrical faults. Standards require DFIGs to be disconnected from the grid unless augmented with a fault ride through (FRT) capability.

Comparative Impedance Characteristic Analysis of Grid‐Following and Grid‐Forming Inverters

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This paper comprehensively analyses the impedance characteristics of grid‐following and grid‐forming inverters at around synchronous frequency areas considering various operating and grid connection conditions and control settings. Both analytical and from EMT‐simulation extracted impedances are obtained for ensuring model plausibility.
