Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Historical Hourly Information of Four European Wind Farms for Wind Energy Forecasting and Maintenance

open access: yesData
For an electric company, having an accurate forecast of the expected electrical production and maintenance from its wind farms is crucial. This information is essential for operating in various existing markets, such as the Iberian Energy Market Operator—

Hydrogeochemical and Isotopic Constraints on the Pattern of a Deep Circulation Groundwater Flow System

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
Characterization of a deep circulation groundwater flow system is a big challenge, because the flow field and aqueous chemistry of deep circulation groundwater is significantly influenced by the geothermal reservoir.

Slip inversion along inner fore-arc faults, eastern Tohoku, Japan [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The kinematics of deformation in the overriding plate of convergent margins may vary across timescales ranging from a single seismic cycle to many millions of years.

How do normal faults grow?

open access: yesJournal of Structural Geology, 2015
Normal faults grow via synchronous increase in displacement and length (‘propagating fault model’, also known as the ‘isolated fault model’), or by rapid length establishment and subsequent displacement accrual (constant-length fault model).

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

A Study on the Impact of Different PV Model Parameters and Various DC Faults on the Characteristics and Performance of the Photovoltaic Arrays

open access: yesInventions
PV systems play a vital role in the global renewable energy sector, and they require accurate modeling and reliable performance to maximize the output power. This research presents a thorough analysis and discussions on the effects of different PV models’

3D Imaging of Geothermal Faults from a Vertical DAS Fiber at Brady Hot Spring, NV USA

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
In March 2016, arguably the most ambitious 4D (3D space + over time) active-source seismic survey for geothermal exploration in the U.S. was acquired at Brady Natural Laboratory, outside Fernley, Nevada.

Arcing High Impedance Fault Detection Using Real Coded Genetic Algorithm

open access: yes, 2007
Safety and reliability are two of the most important aspects of electric power supply systems. Sensitivity and robustness to detect and isolate faults can influence the safety and reliability of such systems.

Earthquake statistics and fractal faults

open access: yes, 1996
We introduce a Self-affine Asperity Model (SAM) for the seismicity that mimics the fault friction by means of two fractional Brownian profiles (fBm) that slide one over the other.
