Faunal zonation and assemblages in the Pacific Colombian mangroves
Hydrobiologia, 1999The zonations of trees and marine associated fauna of two mangrove areas of the Pacific coast of Colombia, Malaga and Buenaventura bays, are compared. These bays are exposed to huge terrigeneous inputs, abundant rainfall, high tidal range and, for the later, to deforestation, urban and industrial pollution.

Faunal Assemblages of Seagrass Ecosystems
2018Seagrass habitats support diverse animal assemblages and while there has been considerable progress in the study of these fauna over the last few decades, large knowledge gaps remain. There are biases in our knowledge of taxonomic and functional information that favour the temperate regions over the tropics, some seagrass genera over others, shallow ...

Benthic faunal assemblages off the Delmarva Peninsula
Estuarine and Coastal Marine Science, 1976Abstract Based on 90 quantitative samples collected May and November 1973 the species composition, distribution and abundance of benthic invertebrates on the inner continental shelf off the Delmarva Peninsula (38 ° 23′N and 47 ° 15′W) were determined. A total of 149 species were identified.

Faunal Assemblages and the “Wiegemethode” or Weight Method
Journal of Field Archaeology, 1978AbstractThe “Wiegemethode” or weight method has long been applied to faunal remains from archaeological sites in order to determine the relative representation of taxa in terms of differences in meat weight. The basic assumption of the weight method is that a constant relationship exists between bone weight and meat weight within a taxon.

The use of chimpanzee‐modified faunal assemblages to investigate early hominin carnivory
Evolutionary Anthropology: Issues, News, and Reviews, 2023AbstractChimpanzees regularly hunt and consume prey smaller than themselves. It seems therefore likely that early hominins also consumed small vertebrate meat before they started using and producing stone tools. Research has focused on cut marks and large ungulates, but there is a small body of work that has investigated the range of bone modifications

A Bayesian Approach to Andean Faunal Assemblages
Latin American Antiquity, 2019Faunal assemblages offer rich data for exploring domestication, subsistence, ritual practice, and political economy. Issues of equifinality, however, frequently complicate interpretations because different agents and processes may create similar archaeological signatures.

Faunal assemblage seriation of southern African Pliocene and Pleistocene fossil deposits
American Journal of Physical Anthropology, 1995AbstractFossil assemblages from the Pliocene and Pleistocene of southern Africa were seriated in order to give a better idea of their relative chronology. Time‐sensitive mammals were selected for calculation of the Faunal Resemblance Index among 17 site units.

Mapping the origin of faunal assemblages using strontium isotopes
Paleobiology, 2003One of the greatest challenges in using faunal assemblages to make ecological or paleoecological interpretations is determining the spatial scale over which such analyses are applicable. As a result, it has been difficult to use these assemblages to test hypotheses about spatial and temporal variability in populations.

ON THE NUMBER AND SIZES OF ANIMALS IN ARCHAEOLOGICAL FAUNAL ASSEMBLAGES
Archaeometry, 1974ABSTRACTSThis paper presents a method for dealing with unpaired skeletal elements in order to approach the questions of (1) how many animals are represented in an assemblage; and (2) how large these individuals were. The method is designed for use with fish remains and can easily be extended to paired elements. It is shown how the interplay between the
