Effect of nucleon exchange on projectile multifragmentation in the reactions of 28Si + 112Sn and 124Sn at 30 and 50 MeV/nucleon

open access: yes, 2000
Multifragmentation of quasiprojectiles was studied in reactions of 28Si beam with 112Sn and 124Sn targets at projectile energies 30 and 50 MeV/nucleon.

The ALS‐associated E425K mutation uncouples DNAJC7 from the Hsp70 chaperone cycle

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
DNAJC7 is a J‐domain protein that plays a key role in protein quality control by regulating Hsp70 activity and preventing protein aggregation. We find that the ALS‐associated E425K mutation in DNAJC7 disrupts productive interaction and activation of Hsp70, thereby blocking the transfer and refolding of client proteins such as TDP‐43.

Die religiöse Lesart von Faust I

open access: yesRecherches Germaniques, 2010
Le Prologue au Ciel n’est pas seulement l’introduction à la première partie de Faust, mais à toute la pièce. Les archanges y présentent la figure d’un Seigneur bienveillant et en même temps celle de son contradicteur.

Efficient Deformable Shape Correspondence via Kernel Matching

open access: yes, 2017
We present a method to match three dimensional shapes under non-isometric deformations, topology changes and partiality. We formulate the problem as matching between a set of pair-wise and point-wise descriptors, imposing a continuity prior on the ...

Holding but not folding: How a single charge flip uncouples the DNAJC7‐Hsp70 relay in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
In this issue, Elmaleh et al. demonstrate that the E425K mutation in DNAJC7, associated with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, selectively abolishes one of a co‐chaperone's dual functions. High‐resolution NMR confirmed that the mutation leaves the protein's structure intact while paralyzing its communication with the Hsp70 machinery.

Surgical tagging of Atlantic mackerel (Scomber scombrus): electroanaesthesia and survival in captivity and the field

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Electroanaesthesia using electric fish handling gloves induced rapid and reversible sedation of Atlantic mackerel (Scomber scombrus) during surgical tagging without observable adverse effects on behaviour or tag retention. In the laboratory, survival analyses revealed that longer handling times and smaller body sizes significantly reduced ...

DIE LISZTSCHE IRONIE IN DER SCHILDERUNG DES „MEPHISTOPHELISCHEN“ IM DRITTEN TEIL DER „FAUST-SYMPHONIE“

open access: yesStudia Universitatis Babeş-Bolyai. Musica, 2012
The third part (Mephistopheles) of the Faust-Symphony by Liszt brings the transformation and the caricature of the first part (Faust), and hereby the undisguised musical portrayal of the ugliness and the maliciousness, as two of the fundamental ethic ...

Vocabulary Opens the Door; Creativity Guides the Search: Complementary Contributions to Second Language Semantic Fluency Across Domains

open access: yesLanguage Learning, EarlyView.
Abstract Semantic fluency, the ability to retrieve words within a category, relies on lexical knowledge, semantic memory and executive control mechanisms. A richer, interconnected semantic memory and optimal executive control, as seen in creative individuals, enhance fluency through broad associative searches and quicker access to remote concepts ...
