A reconfigurable optical header recognition system for optical packet routing applications [PDF]
We demonstrate a reconfigurable all-optical packet processing system. The key device is a code-reconfigurable header decoder based on a fiber Bragg grating. The performance of the system is tested for different packet headers, and error-free operation is

FBG Interrogation Method with High Resolution and Response Speed Based on a Reflective-Matched FBG Scheme [PDF]
In this paper, a high resolution and response speed interrogation method based on a reflective-matched Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) scheme is investigated in detail. The nonlinear problem of the reflective-matched FBG sensing interrogation scheme is solved by establishing and optimizing the mathematical model.

Beyond Imperfect Match: Silicon/Graphite Hybrid Anodes for High‐Energy–Density Lithium‐Ion Batteries
Silicon/graphite (Si/Gr) hybrid anodes are limited by Si's large volume change and mismatch with Gr. This review offers mechanistic insights into imperfectly matched Si/Gr hybrid anodes, elucidating heterogeneous lithiation behavior and interfacial failure pathways, and thereby informing the design of durable, high‐energy–density lithium‐ion batteries.

Rapid characterization of the ultraviolet induced fiber Bragg grating complex coupling coefficient as a function of irradiance and exposure time [PDF]
We report the application of optical frequency domain reflectometry and a discrete-layer-peeling inverse scattering algorithm to the spatial characterization of the UV induced complex coupling coefficient during fiber Bragg grating growth.

Unveiling Localized Heat in Lithium‐Ion Cells for Intelligent Temperature Sensing
Heat generation, thermal responses, and intelligent management in batteries. Lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) power electric vehicles, portable electronics, and grid‐scale storage, yet their safety, performance, and lifetime are constrained by thermal effects.

Effect of an atom on a quantum guided field in a weakly driven fiber-Bragg-grating cavity
We study the interaction of an atom with a quantum guided field in a weakly driven fiber-Bragg-grating (FBG) cavity. We present an effective Hamiltonian and derive the density-matrix equations for the combined atom-cavity system.

A simple method for fabricating phase-shifted fibre Bragg gratings with flexible choice of centre wavelength [PDF]
A simple technique for fabricating phase-shifted fibre Bragg gratings (PSFBGs) without the use of a phase-shifted phase mask is presented. Two, 3-mm long, standard fibre Bragg gratings (FBGs) were inscribed sequentially in singlemode fibre at the same

Multiplexing Techniques for FBG Sensors [PDF]
One of the main goals of fiber optic sensor technology is to multiplex together a high number of sensors in the same fiber in order to share expensive terminal equipment and reduce the size and weight of the optical cable. Both passive and active multiplexing techniques are used for telemetry in sensor networks.
