Signal models for TDOA/FDOA estimation
Much research has been done in the area of estimating time-difference-of-arrival (TDOA) and frequency-difference-of-arrival (FDOA) and their use in locating a radiating source. Early work in this area was focused on locating acoustic sources using passive sonar processing.

When the near-field and far-field information of a target is uncertain, it is necessary to choose a suitable localization method. The modified polar representation (MPR) method integrates the two scenarios and achieves a unified localization with ...

A Novel Joint TDOA/FDOA Passive Localization Scheme Using Interval Intersection Algorithm
Due to the large measurement error in the practical non-cooperative scene, the passive localization algorithms based on traditional numerical calculation using time difference of arrival (TDOA) and frequency difference of arrival (FDOA) often have no ...

Based on the time difference direction‐finding algorithm, new mathematical expressions of geometric dilution of precision (GDOP) are presented in Time Difference of Arrival positioning systems in this paper. The time difference direction‐finding reveals that the angle measurements are accurate for any length of baseline.

Abstract This manuscript presents the analysis of data from multiple ground‐ and space‐based sensors in the North American region before, during, and after the 12 October 2021 geomagnetic storm. Total electron content (TEC) and electron density data show the formation and equatorward propagation of a mid‐latitude trough at ∼50°N followed by the ...

The prior information carried by the known waveform of the reference signal to reduce the negative impact of random noise is exploited, and a coherent and an incoherent method is proposed to estimate the TDOA and FDOA parameters between two moving receivers.

Abstract Multidimensional scaling (MDS) is an attractive technique for a moving source localisation from time and frequency difference of arrival (time differences of arrival (TDOA)/frequency differences of arrival (FDOA)) measurements. However, its optimality has not yet been proven theoretically because of the difficult Moore–Penrose pesudo‐inverse ...

A deep learning algorithm for joint direct tracking and classification of manoeuvring sources
Abstract The remarkable success of deep learning technologies has provided new ideas for solving complex tracking problems. It is difficult for traditional algorithms to directly estimate the trajectory vector and target class from the received signal due to the limitation of modelling ability, which causes inevitable information loss.

Improved position estimation method for locating an encrypted COSPAS‐SARSAT beacon
This study addresses a signal processing technique in a search and rescue system. An international disaster rescue communications support programme such as COSPAS‐ search and rescue satellite‐aided tracking (SARSAT) estimates the position of a beacon ...

Dual-Satellite Source Geolocation with Time and Frequency Offsets and Satellite Location Errors [PDF]
This paper considers locating a static source on Earth using the time difference of arrival (TDOA) and frequency difference of arrival (FDOA) measurements obtained by a dual-satellite geolocation system.
