Finite difference time domain modeling of steady state scattering from jet engines with moving turbine blades [PDF]

open access: yes
The approach chosen to model steady state scattering from jet engines with moving turbine blades is based upon the Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method.

Wafer‐Scale Deterministic Fabrication of Axis‐Ratio–Engineered Silicon Nanoparticles for On‐Resonance Electric–Magnetic Dipole Interference

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Wafer‐scale top‐down fabrication yields silicon nanoparticles with exceptional uniformity (CV 1.7%–2.4%), enabling deterministic axis‐ratio tuning. At AR ≈$\approx$ 2.1, electric–magnetic dipoles overlap on‐resonance, producing near‐Kerker forward scattering (F/B ≈$\approx$ 12.5).

Strategic Spatial Segregation in Silicon Photoelectrodes: Decoupling Catalytic and Optical Functions for High‐Efficiency Solar Water Splitting

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 6, Issue 5, May 2025.
A novel spatial segregation strategy for silicon photoelectrodes is demonstrated, where catalyst wires surrounded by tapered microwires effectively decouple competing optical and catalytic requirements. This architectural innovation enables optimal light absorption and catalytic activity while maintaining efficient charge transport, achieving 96.5 ...

Waveguide‐Based Four‐Channel Crosstalk‐Free Metahologram Multiplexed by Diffraction Orders

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
A diffraction‐order‐multiplexed, four‐channel metahologram integrates a flat glass waveguide and an array of titanium dioxide nanopillars to realize crosstalk‐free holographic projection. Light undergoes total internal reflection within the waveguide and gets out‐coupled by diffraction from the nanopillar array.

Novel Research on a Finite-Difference Time-Domain Acceleration Algorithm Based on Distributed Cluster Graphic Process Units

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In computational electromagnetics, the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is recognized for its volumetric discretization approach. However, it can be computationally demanding when addressing large-scale electromagnetic problems.

One‐Step Fabrication of Non‐Ablative Microstructures for Efficient Second Harmonic Generation on LiNbO3 Thin Film

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
This study presents a novel one‐step femtosecond laser modification technique for fabricating high‐quality periodic metasurfaces on lithium niobate thin films without surface damage and scattering centers. Under oblique incidence at 1030 nm, a 4.75‐fold enhancement in second‐harmonic generation efficiency is achieved through complementary mechanisms ...

Electrically Reconfigurable Quasi‐BIC Metadevices Enabled by Integrated Barium Titanate

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
An electrically reconfigurable quasi‐BIC metasurface is demonstrated by monolithic integration of barium titanate. Leveraging the Pockels effect, linear tuning of 1.79 nm/V is achieved, enabling a 250 μm2 miniaturized spectrometer with 0.2 nm resolution, 99% fidelity, and high throughput.

Terahertz Metasurface for Spatial Detection of Full Stokes Parameters and Polarization Imaging

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
This work presents a THz polarization analyzer with significantly improved robustness against nonuniformity. By integrating four polarization‐sensitive meta‐atoms into a meta‐cell, the metalens splits incident light into six polarization components and generates off‐axis focal spots.

Spectropolarimetric Holographic Multiplexing Metasurface With Super‐High Capacity Empowered by Mechanical Rotation

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
Mechanically reconfigurable metasurfaces enable high‐capacity optical storage and holography due to low cost/complexity. A differentiable inverse design framework maps meta‐atom geometries to multichannel optical responses via deep neural networks. Rotatable cascaded metasurfaces optimized through this pipeline achieve pixel‐level holography with 288 ...

Terahertz Encryption With a Polarization‐Sensitive Metasurface

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 9, 13 May 2026.
We propose a dual‐functional terahertz encryption metasurface that enables independent information retrieval in both the near field and the far field within a single device. In the near field, polarization‐selective amplitude modulation reveals textual patterns, whereas in the far field, phase engineering encodes multiple digital data in focal‐spot ...
