On the invar effect of Fe-based amorphous alloys

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 1983
Abstract Spontaneous volume magnetostriction and forced volume magnetostriction of various Fe-based amorphous alloys have been studied. Invar characteristics of amorphous alloys depend on the electron number per transition metal atom, irrespective of the kinds of transition metal and metalloid elements.

Diffusion of silicon in Fe-based amorphous and crystalline alloys

Applied Surface Science, 1990
The segregation rate of silicon was measured in three different Fe-based amorphous and crystallized alloys with different silicon contents: 3.5, 5 and 9 at%. Analysis of the segregation kinetics yielded the diffusion activation energies E, as well as the frequency factors D0. A linear dependence was found between In D0 and E.

Crystallization and Nanocrystallization Kinetics of Fe-Based Amorphous Alloys

MRS Proceedings, 1999
ABSTRACTIn this work we describe crystallization kinetics as inferred from time-dependent magnetization studies and thermal analysis for an Allied Signal amorphous Fe-based METGLAS® 2605SA-1 alloy and a NANOPERM (Fe88Zr7B4Cu1) alloy. We illustrate and contrast several phenomena important to understanding crystallization kinetics in particular to the ...

Design of the Components of the Fe-Based Bulk Amorphous Alloys

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
It’s well known that bulk Fe-based amorphous alloy is difficult to fabricate, but we develop low price Fe-based amorphous alloys applied in practice after systemic analyzing and considering the cost demand of the application. Finally, there are 7 Fe-based amorphous alloys fabricated by advanced copper mold casting after careful attempt.

Laser processing of Fe-based bulk amorphous alloy

Surface and Coatings Technology, 2010
Abstract Laser processing of Fe–Cr–Mo–W–C–Mn–Si–B glass forming alloy components without losing feedstock's partial amorphous structure is successfully demonstrated using Laser Engineered Net Shaping (LENS(tm)) — a solid freeform fabrication technique. In spite of known decreasing quenching effect with increasing deposit thickness in this process, no

Kinetics of isochronal crystallization in a Fe-based amorphous alloy

Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2018
Abstract In this paper, the kinetics of isochronal differential scanning calorimetry of Fe48Cr15Mo14Y2C15B6 amorphous alloy was analyzed to understand the mechanism of crystallization. The crystallization process constituted of overlapping exothermic transformations occurring from 900 to 1100 K with activation energies from 369 to 437 kJ mol

Young's modulus in Fe-based amorphous invar alloys

Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 1984
Abstract The measurement of Young's modulus of Fe-B, Fe-P, Co-B and (Fe,Co,Ni)77Si10-B13 amorphous alloys has been carried out. Young's modulus measured under the saturation of magnetization Es can be arranged by the molar volume Vmol as Es∞Vmol−n (n≈2).

Stress Sensitive Property of Fe-base Amorphous Alloy

IEEE Translation Journal on Magnetics in Japan, 1987
The high stress sensitivity of Fe-base amorphous alloy was studied. Permeability variation under uniaxial tensile stress measurements showed that the alloy had a saturation magnetostriction of 20 × 10?6 and a Young's modulus of 10000 kg/mm2. Permeability variation reached maximum in the neighborhood of 20 kHz, exhibiting the same tendency when the ...

Hydrogen embrittlement of some Fe-base amorphous alloys

Materials Science and Engineering, 1976
One of the promising properties of amorphous metallic alloys is their tensile strengths attaining as high as 300 kg/mm 2, at which strength levels ordinary steels are inevitably sensitive to hydrogen embri t t lement (HE). Chromium bearing Fe-base amorphous alloys have been shown to have excellent corrosion resistance [ 1 ], bu t local cell formation ...
