Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Detection of a Spin-Wave Gap in Fe2B

Measurements of the 11B frequency vs temperature in the ferromagnetic intermetallic Fe2B for 4.2°≤T≤373°K give evidence of a spin-wave gap even in zero applied field. Above about 100°K, the reduced frequency is approximately proportional to T3/2 (with a small admixture of a T5/2 term).

Bulk Fe2B crystal fabricated by mechanical ball milling and plasma activated sintering

Abstract Bulk Fe 2 B crystals were fabricated with Fe and B mixed powders by mechanical ball milling and plasma activated sintering (PAS). The results indicate that, as milling time reaches 10 h and above, the diffraction peaks of B powders will vanish and new phases will not appear.

In this study, AISI M2 High-Speed Steel was borided by a pack-boriding method. Samples were borided in the atmospheric controlled furnace at 900 to 1100 C for 2 to 6h. For the boriding heat treatment, AISI 316 stainless steel crucible and a powder mixture with the trade name EKABOR 2 as the boriding agent were used.
