Characterization of Boride Coatings on AISI 8620 Steels without and with Hydrogen Permeation
The present work studied the characterization of boriding coatings without and with exposed hydrogen permeation on AISI 8620 through microstructure and mechanical behavior. A dehydrated paste pack process was carried out for the formation of boride coatings on AISI 8620 at 1173, 1223, and 1273 K for 6 h of exposure time for each temperature.

The developed model of diffusion‐limited and diffusionless solidification of a eutectic alloy describes the relation “undercooling (ΔT)‐velocity (V)‐interlamellar spacing (λ)” for two cases. Namely, when the solidification front velocity V is smaller than the solute diffusion speed in bulk liquid VD, V < VD, the model predicts a regime of eutectic ...

Analysis of the growth kinetics of Fe2B layers by the integral method [PDF]
In this study, an alternative approach based on the integral method was proposed to estimate the values of boron diffusion coefficients in the Fe2B layers grown at the surface of Armco iron.

Charge Order Superstructure with Integer Iron Valence in Fe2OBO3 [PDF]
Solution-grown single crystals of Fe2OBO3 were characterized by specific heat, Mossbauer spectroscopy, and x-ray diffraction. A peak in the specific heat at 340 K indicates the onset of charge order.

Under comparable boriding conditions, the layer thickness generated on the unalloyed cast iron surface were approximately twice as thick as on the nickel cladded surface. For the unalloyed substrate, the well‐known iron borides were determined. The boride layer formed on the alloyed surface contained iron borides with dissolved nickel portions as well ...

Influence of structural transformations on electric and magnetic properties of Fe81B13Si4C2 amorphous alloy [PDF]
The structural transformations of the Fe81B13Si4C2 amorphous alloy under nonisothermal as well as under isothermal conditions were studied. The amorphous alloy was stable up to a temperature of about 450ºC when the structural transformations began.

Origin of the spin reorientation transitions in (Fe$_{1-x}$Co$_{x}$)$_{2}$B alloys [PDF]
Low-temperature measurements of the magnetocrystalline anisotropy energy $K$ in (Fe$_{1-x}$Co$_{x}$)$_{2}$B alloys are reported, and the origin of this anisotropy is elucidated using a first-principles electronic structure analysis.

Effect of the Boron Powder on Surface AISI W2 Steel: Experiments and Modelling
The effect of boron powder on surface AISI W2 steel and growth kinetic of the boride layer is studied. Boron powder mixture was used in the powder pack boriding; this process was carried out in the temperature range from 1173 to 1273 K with exposure ...
