Guiding Eye Movements For Feature Based Shape Matching [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
We introduce a novel method for shape-based image database search that uses saccadic targeting for local feature choice. A simulated multiresolution sensor is directed toward salient regions of an image in a series of saccadic movements. At each fixation

Social context prevents heat hormetic effects against mutagens during fish development

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study shows that sublethal heat stress protects fish embryos against ultraviolet radiation, a concept known as ‘hormesis’. However, chemical stress transmission between fish embryos negates this protective effect. By providing evidence for the mechanistic molecular basis of heat stress hormesis and interindividual stress communication, this study ...

A similar feature point matching method for aerial electric power tower images based on a one-ring neighborhood of vertices

open access: yesScience and Technology for Energy Transition
Due to the susceptibility of images to various factors such as scale changes, imaging conditions, and image noise, traditional feature point matching methods are difficult to achieve ideal matching accuracy, leading to many challenges in the automatic ...

miRNA‐29 regulates epidermal and mesenchymal functions in skin repair

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
miRNA‐29 inhibits cell‐to‐cell and cell‐to‐matrix adhesion by silencing mRNA targets. Adhesion is controlled by complex interactions between many types of molecules coded by mRNAs. This is crucial for keeping together the layers of the skin and for regenerating the skin after wounding.

Exact Feature Distribution Matching for Arbitrary Style Transfer and Domain Generalization [PDF]

open access: yesCVPR2022 camera ready, 2022
Arbitrary style transfer (AST) and domain generalization (DG) are important yet challenging visual learning tasks, which can be cast as a feature distribution matching problem. With the assumption of Gaussian feature distribution, conventional feature distribution matching methods usually match the mean and standard deviation of features.

EMC+GD_C: circle-based enhanced motion consistency and guided diffusion feature matching for 3D reconstruction

open access: yesComplex & Intelligent Systems
Robust matching, especially the number, precision and distribution of feature point matching, directly affects the effect of 3D reconstruction. However, the existing methods rarely consider these three aspects comprehensively to improve the quality of ...

Efficient 2D-3D Matching for Multi-Camera Visual Localization

open access: yes, 2019
Visual localization, i.e., determining the position and orientation of a vehicle with respect to a map, is a key problem in autonomous driving. We present a multicamera visual inertial localization algorithm for large scale environments.

Spot‐14 and its paralog Spot‐14R regulate expression of metabolic and thermogenic pathway genes in murine brown and beige adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Spot‐14 and Spot‐14R play distinct roles in regulating metabolism in brown and beige adipocytes. While both influence lipid and glucose pathways, Spot‐14 uniquely controls thermogenic gene expression. This dual regulation balances energy storage and heat production, highlighting potential therapeutic targets for obesity and metabolic disorders. Spot 14

Adversarial Training for Adverse Conditions: Robust Metric Localisation using Appearance Transfer

open access: yes, 2018
We present a method of improving visual place recognition and metric localisation under very strong appear- ance change. We learn an invertable generator that can trans- form the conditions of images, e.g. from day to night, summer to winter etc.

Compressed matching for feature vectors

open access: yesTheoretical Computer Science, 2016
The problem of compressing a large collection of feature vectors is investigated, so that object identification can be processed on the compressed form of the features. The idea is to perform matching of a query image against an image database, using directly the compressed form of the descriptor vectors, without decompression.
