Ammoniated Broiler Diets Reduce Fecal Phosphorus Excretion [PDF]
Abstract Latour, M.A., Meunier, R.A., Huber, D. and Stallings, K. 2000. Ammoniated broiler diets reduce fecal phosphorus excretion. J. Appl. Anim. Res., 18: 91–95. To determine if diet ammoniation would alter the fecal characteristics of growing broilers during the last week of production, forty broiler chicks were raised on the same diet up to 28 days

Faecal leukocyte esterase activity is an alternative biomarker in inflammatory bowel disease [PDF]
Background: Leukocyte cytosolic proteins (e.g., calprotectin) are emerging biomarkers for inflammatory bowel disease. Leukocyte aryl esterase activity has been commonly used for sensitive detection of leukocytes in human body fluids such as urine.

Increased Excretion of Fecal Fat in Hyperlipidemic Patients
Total fat balance was studied in 13 healthy controls and 14 patients with primry hyperlipidemia by estimating dietary and fecal fat. Although no difference in fat intake was noted between hyperlipidemics and controls, fecal fat excretion in hyperlipidemics increased significantly as compared with that in controls.
