Kinetics of oxide formation on FeCrAl thin films

The thermal oxidation kinetics of FeCrAl alloy thin films in ambient air been investigated in the temperature range 400 approximately equals 530 degree(s)C. The films were deposited on to oxidized single crystal silicon wafers and glass substrates with thermal evaporation.

Impurity distribution in Al2O3 formed on an FeCrAl alloy

Abstract Analytical electron microscopy and Auger spectroscopy were used to study the amount and distribution of Fe, Cr and S impurities in the Al2O3 scale grown on an FeCrAl alloy. Segregations of Fe on grain boundaries and S on internal void surfaces were found, and a mechanism of intragranular void formation in Al2O3 is proposed.
