Burst Safety Analysis of Strengthened FeCrAl Claddings in APR1400 Fuel Rods Subject to LOCA Conditions

A computational framework is developed to evaluate the thermo‐mechanical performance of APR1400 fuel rods with FeCrAl claddings under normal and LOCA conditions. Results show that reducing the pellet‐cladding gap enhances heat conduction and burst safety, while an 80% strength enhancement in FeCrAl claddings improves burst safety by up to 80%.

High‐Temperature Mechanical Behavior of Single‐Crystal FeCrAl Alloy Under In Situ Micropillar Compression

Modeling the Precipitation of Aluminum Nitride Inclusions during Solidification of High‐Aluminum Steels

A model for the evolution of size distributions of AlN inclusions during the solidification of steel is proposed. The model is applied in high‐Al steels and validated by experimental data in literature. The influence of cooling rates and Al and N concentrations on AlN precipitation is described by the model.

Metal loss and corrosion attack of FeCrAl overlay welds on evaporator tube shields of a waste‐fired power plant

Weld clads of three FeCrAl alloys and reference Alloy 625 were exposed for 6 months in a waste‐fired combined heat and power plant. Microstructure and hardness were investigated before and after the exposure. Metal‐loss rate and corrosion products were analysed, and alloys were ranked from higher to lower erosion–corrosion resistance.
