Multimodal Soft Surgical Robots Enabled by Eco‐Degradable, Sterilizable Polymers and Transient Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A compostable PGS soft surgical robot with interchangeable modules integrates transient Mo tactile and Si thermal sensors for dual feedback. The device preserves its function after clinical‐grade sterilization, demonstrates stable actuation and cardiac tissue grasping with real‐time in vivo pulsatile monitoring, and biodegrades post‐use with soil‐safe,

Impact of Ownership Structure on the Performance of China’s Feed Mill Sector, April 2005

open access: yes, 2005
In the decade of the 1990s, China’s feed sector became increasingly privatized, more feed mills opened, and the scale of operation expanded. Capacity utilization remained low and multi-ministerial supervision was still prevalent, but the feed mill ...

Microprocessor-based elastic feed systems for sewing applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
The manufacture of certain garments, such as underwear and T-shirts, requires the attachment of tensioned elastics and tapes to workpieces which make up the garment.

Speckle‐Engineered Upconversion Amplification in Nanoemulsion‐Templated Hydrogel Microdomes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nanoemulsion‐confined PEGDA microdomes generate speckle‐like excitation fields that strongly amplify upconversion luminescence upon dehydration, enabling filter‐free visible readout with reversible on–off switching. DMD‐based lithography yields scalable, shape‐programmable arrays for moisture‐responsive displays and optical encryption.

Cost and benefits for the segregation of GM and non-GM compound feed

open access: yes
Measures are being developed and implemented enabling the co-existence of conventional, genetically modified (GM) and organic cropping systems. In order to segregate GM from conventional crops in the entire supply chain, a food or feed company has to ...

The Role of Ultra‐Thin Buffer Layers for Achieving Ultra‐Low Dark Currents in Single‐Component Organic Photodetectors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, SubNc single‐component organic photodiodes (SC‐OPDs) are investigated, which achieve highly competitive performance metrics, including high EQE, ultra‐low JD, and high specific detectivity (D*). This study emphasizes the critical role of an organic buffer layer in studying the interface energetics and effects to achieve state‐of‐the‐art ...

Modeling the U.S. Domestic Livestock Feed Sector in a Period of Rapidly Expanding By-Product Feed Supplies from Ethanol Production

open access: yes
Rapidly expanding ethanol production in the U.S. was given further impetus with the passage of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 mandating a minimum production of 7.5 billion gallons of renewable fuels by 2012.
