Under optimum conditions, young healthy individuals of each livestock species may convert about one-third of the digestible protein in its feed into tissue protein in its body. Of this tissue protein, we use about half as food.

Infant Feeding: Changing the Conversation
The Practising midwife, 2018Francesca Entwistle, Midwife, RCM member and professional advisor to the Unicef UK Baby Friendly Initiative, explains how the Royal College of Midwives’ (RCM) recent position statement on infant feeding and the media response (RCM 2018) lays blame incorrectly on individual midwives, while ignoring the real issues at stake: the vulnerability of ...

Biological conversion of paddy straw into feed
Biological Wastes, 1987Abstract Five cellulolytic non-toxic fungi were screened for ability to improve the nutritive value of paddy straw by solid substrate fermentation. Pleurotus ostreatus and Sporotrichum pulverulentum significantly utilized cell wall constituents and increased in vitro dry matter rumen digestibility of paddy straw (IVDRD).

Feed Conversion Indices: Controversy or Convention?
The Progressive Fish-Culturist, 1987Abstract Various methods of calculating and reporting the efficiency of food use in fish husbandry are examined. The effects of moisture content of feed and fish flesh, supplemental feeds augmented with natural feed items, differences in energy content due to feed formulations, and the usefulness of the various feed efficiency indices to aquaculturists

Feed conversion ratio (FCR), which is used as a description of growth as a function of feed intake, depends mainly on the feeding rate but also on temperature. The estimation of the FCR is simple; however, the practical application of this ratio is limited to cases in which fish are fed beyond maintenance rate.

Influence of Temperature on Feed Conversion by Swine
Journal of Farm Economics, 1964CURRENT research in economics is concerned with interregional competition. Computational procedures and computers, sufficient to solve matrices of the scope necessary in interregional problems, are now available. Refinements of the transportation model as conceived by Hitchcock, Koopmans and Dantzig are employed in formulating and solving these ...

Residual Feed Intake in Poultry: Unlocking Efficiency in Feed Conversion
Introduction Feed costs constitute the largest portion of expenses in poultry production, accounting for over 70% of total expenditures. Given the significant economic impact of feed, maintaining feed quality, reducing costs, and optimizing feed utilization are critical for improving profitability. Among these factors, optimizing feed efficiency playsopenaire +1 more source

Based on feed composition, fish composition and feed conversion, some theoretical effects of feeding on waste discharge are calculated to illustrate the appropriateness of farm effluent monitoring. The effects of feed conversion and feed spillage and feed composition on waste discharge (suspended and dissolved N, P & COD) are demonstrated.
