Potentials of castor seed meal (Ricinus communis L.) as feed ingredient for Oreochromis niloticus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The potentials of castor seed (Ricinus communis) meal as feed ingredient for Oreochromis niloticus was determined by using boiled seeds to prepare five diets which were fed to the fish species.

Use of group records of feed intake to select for feed efficiency in rabbit [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, 2019
AbstractModels for genetic evaluation of feed efficiency (FE) for animals housed in groups when they are either fed ad libitum (F) or on restricted (R) feeding were implemented. Definitions of FE on F included group records of feed intake () and individual records of growth rate (GF) and metabolic weight (MF).

The role of fibroblast growth factors in cell and cancer metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fibroblast growth factor (FGF) signaling regulates crucial signaling cascades that promote cell proliferation, survival, and metabolism. Therefore, FGFs and their receptors are often dysregulated in human diseases, including cancer, to sustain proliferation and rewire metabolism.

The positive effects of dietary inositol on juvenile hybrid grouper (♀Epinephelus fuscoguttatus × ♂ Epinephelus lanceolatu) fed high-lipid diets: Growth performance, intestinal digestive enzymes, tissue morphology, and intestinal microbiota

open access: yesAquaculture Reports
The aim of study was to explore the beneficial effects of adding inositol to high-lipid diets on intestinal digestive enzymes, tissue morphology, and intestinal microbiota in juvenile hybrid grouper (♀ Epinephelus fuscoguttatus × ♂ Epinephelus lanceolatu)

Genetics of feed intake and efficiency in grazing dairy cows : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Animal Science [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Feed efficiency in dairy cows is widely acknowledged as a highly desirable characteristic to improve because of its well-documented impact on production costs.

The effect of an 18-hour delay in solid feed provisioning on the feed intake and performance of piglets in the first weeks after weaning

open access: yes, 2019
It is generally accepted that early post-weaning feed intake affects post-weaning health and performance. Especially piglets that have not consumed creep feed before weaning have to learn to recognize solid feed.

Current trends in single‐cell RNA sequencing applications in diabetes mellitus

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Single‐cell RNA sequencing is a powerful approach to decipher the cellular and molecular landscape at a single‐cell resolution. The rapid development of this technology has led to a wide range of applications, including the detection of cellular and molecular mechanisms and the identification and introduction of novel potential diagnostic and ...

Effects of frequency and period of feeding on growth and feed utilisation in two Asian catfishes, Pangasius bocourti (Sauvage, 1880) and Pangasius hypophthalmus (Sauvage, 1878) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Feeding to satiation in P. bocourti, resulted in higher growth with increased meal frequency. However, growth performance of two-meal or three-meal feeding was not significantly different at all.

Individual efficiency for the use of feed resources in rabbits1 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Animal Science, 2007
A Bayesian procedure, which allows consideration of the individual variation in the feed resource allocation pattern, is described and implemented in 2 sire lines of rabbit (Caldes and R). The procedure is based on a hierarchical Bayesian scheme, where the first stage of the model consists of a multiple regression model of feed intake on metabolic BW ...

Actin dynamics controlled by IqgC, a RasGAP at the crossroads between the IQGAP and fungal GAP1 families

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IqgC is a RasGAP from Dictyostelium discoideum. IqgC binds RasG via its RasGAP domain and deactivates it on macroendocytic cups, thereby suppressing the uptake of fluid and particles. IqgC has a positive effect on cell‐substratum adhesion, and its RGCt domain is required for recruitment to ventral foci.
