A myoelectrically-controlled prosthesis with sensory feedback

Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing, 1979
An electrically-operated hand, controlled by myopotentials, has been fitted with strain gauges in the index finger which measure the gripping force between thumb and index finger. These strain gauges cause an electrical stimulus to be applied to the skin directly above the median nerve.

Wiener analysis of nonlinear feedback in sensory systems

Annals of Biomedical Engineering, 1991
Experimental studies of certain sensory systems (e.g., vertebrate retinal cells and auditory fibers) have yielded qualitative evidence of the presence of nonlinear feedback. However, no methods have been available to provide the tools for quantitative analysis of this nonlinear feedback mechanism and subsequent modeling of the overall dynamics of these

Sensory feedback for artificial limbs.

Medical progress through technology, 1979
Over the years various approaches have been made to help solve the problem of replacing mechanical function of a lost limb, but there has been little direct interest in the associated problem of replacing the sensory function also lost in the amputation.

Proprioceptive Feedback for Sensory-Motor Control

1988
Among the natural sensors, which provide proprioceptive feedback during movement, the muscle spindle has attracted most interest since the sensitivity of spindle afferents to length variations of the host muscle is subjected to efferent control by fusimotor neurones (mostly γ-motoneurones).
