Nested strategies for the quantized feedback stabilization
2003 European Control Conference (ECC), 2003A state feedback with finitely many quantization levels yields only the so called practical stabilization, namely the convergence of any initial state belonging to a bigger bounded region into another smaller target region of the state space. The ratio between the measure of the starting region and the target region is called contraction of the closed ...

Adaptive quantization for fading channels with feedback
International Journal of Wireless Information Networks, 1995The effect of the presence of a feedback channel on the transmission of information was first considered by Shannon, who showed that the capacity of a memoryless channel is not increased by the existence of a feedback link even if the feedback link is noiseless.

Circuits with quantized feedback
IRE Transactions on Circuit Theory, 1955The paper deals with a special class of feedback circuits in which the feedback path is closed at a discrete set of time instants that depend upon two arbitrary inputs g(t) and \nu(t) . Since the feedback signal is quantized in magnitude as well as in time, these circuits possess novel properties not found in ordinary linear feedback systems.

MIMO Systems With Quantized Covariance Feedback
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2014A unified approach is developed for the study of multi-input, multi-output (MIMO) systems under fast fading with quantized covariance feedback. In such systems, the receiver computes, using perfect channel state information (CSI), the covariance matrices to be adopted by the transmitter corresponding to the current channel realization, and feeds back a

Optimum feedback quantizers for Laplacian pyramids
1996 IEEE Digital Signal Processing Workshop Proceedings, 2002This paper addresses the problem of distortion allocation in a multi-layer image encoder based on an enhanced Laplacian pyramid with quantization noise feedback. An entropy-minimizing optimum quantization strategy is obtained by defining an equivalent memoryless pyramid entropy that, for the case of quantization feedback, is a function of rates and ...

Quantized feedback stabilization of linear systems
IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 2000Summary: This paper addresses feedback stabilization problems for linear time-invariant control systems with saturating quantized measurements. We propose a new control design methodology, which relies on the possibility of changing the sensitivity of the quantizer while the system evolves.

Synthesis of continuous-time dynamic quantizers for quantized feedback systems
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2012Abstract This paper focuses on analysis and synthesis methods of continuous-time dynamic quantizers for quantized feedback systems. Our aim is to find a quantizer such that a given linear system is optimally approximated by the given linear system with the quantizer in terms of invariant set analysis.

Dithered quantizers with and without feedback
Proceedings of IEEE Workshop on Applications of Signal Processing to Audio and Acoustics, 2002It is shown that quantizing systems without feedback respond to the use of particular spectrally-shaped dither signals quite differently from those with feedback paths. For each type of system, conditions are given which ensure that the quantization error will be wide-sense stationary with no input dependence and with a predictable power spectral ...

Stochastic stability for feedback quantization schemes
IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1982Feedback quantization schemes (such as delta modulation. adaptive quantization, differential pulse code modulation (DPCM), and adaptive differential pulse code modulation (ADPCM) encode an information source by quantizing the source letter at each time i using a quantizer, which is uniquely determined by examining some function of the past outputs and ...

Stabilization of LTI Systems with Quantized State - Quantized Input Static Feedback
2003This paper is concerned with the stabilizability problem for discrete-time linear systems subject to a uniform quantization of the control set and to a regular state quantization, both fixed a priori. As it is well known, for quantized systems only weak (practical) stability properties can be achieved.
