Genetic Parameters of Age at Conception in Nellore Females Using Threshold Models. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Age at conception is a critical factor in the intensification of production systems. It is crucial for intensifying production, optimising reproductive efficiency and boosting Nellore female productivity for genetic progress. However, the low heritability estimates currently limit the effectiveness of selection responses, thereby underscoring ...

Charactering the interaction between expression quantitative trait loci and Alzheimer's Disease Status [PDF]
Abstract Background While genetic variation is a major determinant of Alzheimer's Disease (AD) risk, changes in gene expression likely associate with the disease process in complex and poorly understood ways. To address this gap, we examined how genetic variants alter whole‐blood gene expression in the context of AD status within African American (AA ...

Transcriptomic analysis from 3D cultures of Presilinin‐1 G206A carriers reveals genetic expression differences associated with age‐of‐onset variability [PDF]
Abstract Background The Presenilin‐1 (PSEN1) G206A mutation has been identified in Puerto Ricans (PRs) with Alzheimer disease (AD), as a founder effect in the African ancestral background. The G206A mutation exhibits large age‐of‐onset (AOO) variation (range 30‐90 years) between carriers.

Educational attainment mitigates cognitive decline associated with elevated pTau181 and APOE ε4 in Puerto Ricans [PDF]
Abstract Background Educational attainment (EA) is a key contributor towards cognitive reserve, providing the brain with a degree of resilience to Alzheimer's disease pathology (ADP). However, research suggests that the influence of education on cognitive reserve varies across racial and ethnic groups and APOE genotype, highlighting the importance of ...

Peripheral Immune Composition in Alzheimer's Disease: Insights from Multi‐Ancestry RNA‐Sequencing and Cell Deconvolution [PDF]
Abstract Background Alzheimer's disease (AD) is marked by neuroinflammation and immune system changes, yet the role of peripheral immune cells remains unclear. Immune function varies by ancestry, influencing disease progression and treatment responses. This study applies high‐resolution immune cell deconvolution of whole blood RNA‐seq data from a multi‐

Macrophyte Extracts Promote the Growth of the Microbial Community Associated With Microcystis aeruginosa Alleviating Allelopathic Effects. [PDF]
Aqueous extracts from Pistia stratiotes and Pontederia crassipes inhibit Microcystis aeruginosa while stimulating its associated microbiota. Reintroduction of microbiota into fresh cyanobacterial cultures reduced allelopathic effects, likely through allelochemical degradation and antioxidative responses.
