Activation of feline immunodeficiency virus long terminal repeat by feline herpesvirus type 1.
Virology, 1991By transfection of a recombinant plasmid containing the feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) long terminal repeat (LTR) linked to the chloramphenicol acetyltransferase (CAT) gene followed by infection of feline herpesvirus type 1 (FHV-1) into Crandell feline kidney cells and Felis catus whole fetus 4 cells, enhancement of CAT activity was demonstrated ...

Responses of cats to nasal vaccination with a live, modified feline herpesvirus type 1.
Research in Veterinary Science, 1986Intranasal vaccination with a cold-adapted strain of feline herpesvirus type 1 (FHV-1) two days before challenge gave partial protection, and four days before challenge gave complete protection, against feline viral rhinotracheitis. Protection at this time appeared to be specific since vaccination with FHV-1 did not affect the disease caused by the ...

Feline Herpesvirus Pneumonia: Investigations Into the Pathogenesis
Feline herpesvirus type 1 (FeHV-1) is one of the etiological agents of feline respiratory disease. FeHV-1 is an epitheliotropic and cytopathic virus that mainly causes rhinitis and conjunctivitis, although pneumonia is also occasionally seen.

Comparison of a cheetah herpesvirus isolate to feline herpesvirus type 1
Archives of Virology, 1988A cytopathogenic virus with size and structural characteristics of a Herpesviridae was isolated from a cheetah with severe ulcerative dermatitis. Restriction endonuclease analysis and cross-hybridization studies revealed that the isolate was related to feline herpesvirus type 1 (FHV-1).

Heparin-binding activity of feline herpesvirus type 1 glycoproteins
Virus Research, 1997Feline herpesvirus type 1 (FHV-1) possesses a very narrow host range, but the mechanism of its infection has not yet been analyzed. Heparan sulfate on the cell surface serves as a receptor for several herpesviruses. In this study, we determined that infection of FHV-1 is inhibited by addition of soluble heparin in cells cultures. Using heparin-affinity

Genetic Rearrangements in the gC Gene of the Feline Herpesvirus Type 1
Virus Genes, 2004In the field isolate, 91-58, of feline herpesvirus type 1 (FHV-1), one of the major immunogenic proteins was found to have different molecular masses of 75 and 130 kDa from those in the other field isolates (Maeda et al., J Vet Med Sci 57, 147-150, 1995).

Restriction endonuclease mapping of the genome of feline herpesvirus type 1
Archives of Virology, 1991Restriction endonuclease mapping was used to determine the molecular structure of feline herpesvirus type 1 (FHV-1) strain B 927. FHV-1 DNA purified from infected cells by pulsed field gel electrophoresis was partially restricted with Sau 3A to generate a series of overlapping fragments of 10-20 kb.
