Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and Frontotemporal Dementia Have Distinct Prediagnostic Blood Biochemical Profiles

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Identifying modifiable factors influencing amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD) risk is important for prevention. Blood biomarkers, particularly cholesterol, have been associated with neurodegenerative risk, but findings in ALS are inconsistent, and data on FTD are limited.

Csp, Csp2, and Csp3 Hydrocarbyl Group Migration from Pd(II) to P(III): Accessing Metallophosphoranes via Nonspectator Ligand Reactivity

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Well‐defined migration of Csp, Csp2, and Csp3 hydrocarbyls from Pd(II) compounds to a nontrigonal P(III) ligand scaffold is reported. The structural and spectroscopic features of the resulting complexes reveal a conserved Pd─P interaction. The results demonstrate the nonspectator role of structurally constrained tricoodinate P(III) ligands in palladium

Twisted Tin‐Chloride Perovskite Single‐Crystal Heterostructures

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Replacing lead with tin in a single‐crystal halide perovskite heterostructure drives a twist between the perovskite (gray) and intergrowth (blue) layers. The accompanying structural distortions and interfacial strain change the calculated orbital composition of the band edges and enable high in‐plane optical anisotropy in the Sn analog.
