본 연구는 강은교와 김승희 시의 신화적 이미지를 비교하여 살펴봄으로써 신화적 이미지의 양상과 여성주의적 의의를 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 현대시에 있어서 한국 신화는 많은 시인들에게 소재나 모티프 등으로 응용되어 왔으나, 신화 자체나 남성 이미지를 중심으로 한 연구에 치중되어 왔다. 하지만 여성 시인들은 여성 신화나 여성 신화 속 여성에 탐구하면서 남성 시인들의 시각과 대비되어 주목할 만하다.
