An In Situ Curing, Shear‐Responsive Biomaterial Designed for Durable Embolization of Microvasculature

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
NeoCast is a next‐generation, solvent‐free, non‐adhesive liquid embolic designed for indications where deep occlusion is desired (e.g., tumors and chronic subdural hematoma). This novel agent offers ideal embolic properties: injectability, controllability, excellent visibility, and biocompatibility.

Feruloyl oligosaccharides, isolated from bacterial fermented wheat bran, exhibit antioxidant effects in IPEC‐J2 cells and zebrafish model

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 295-306, January 2023., 2023
An excess of reactive oxygen species (ROS) can cause cell damage, and an accumulation of damage leads to cellular dysfunction resulting in a variety of diseases including abnormal aging, cancer, diabetes, and inflammation. In this study, feruloyl oligosaccharides (FOs) were obtained by solid‐state fermentation using wheat bran, and antioxidant activity

Female Sterilization: Comparative Study of Hysteroscopic versus Laparoscopic Sterilization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Overview and Aims: Female sterilization is increasingly requested as a contraceptive method. Hysteroscopic sterilization by transcervical placing of Essure® micro-inserts in the initial portion of the tubes is a recent alternative to laparoscopic ...

TPMS‐Gyroid Scaffold‐Mediated Up‐Regulation of ITGB1 for Enhanced Cell Adhesion and Immune‐Modulatory Osteogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A) SLM generates biomimetic bone scaffolds with consistent porosity but varying TPMS‐Gyroid unit cell designs (TG15, TG20, TG25, TG30). B) By enhancing the expression of ITGB1, TPMS‐Gyroid scaffolds can facilitate osteogenic differentiation in BMSCs and promote M2 polarization in macrophages.

Rare recombination events generate sequence diversity among balancer chromosomes in Drosophila melanogaster [PDF]

open access: yesProc Natl Acad Sci U S A. 2016 113:E1352-61, 2015
Multiply inverted balancer chromosomes that suppress exchange with their homologs are an essential part of the genetic toolkit in Drosophila melanogaster. Despite their widespread use, the organization of balancer chromosomes has not been characterized at the molecular level, and the degree of sequence variation among copies of any given balancer ...

PCSK9 Promotes the Malignancy of Triple‐negative Breast Cancer Cells by Reducing Cholesterol Levels at the Plasma Membrane to Activate EGFR and HER3

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By decreasing cholesterol and lipid raft levels in the plasma membrane, proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) boosts human epidermal growth factor receptor 1 and 3 (EGFR and HER3) activation, driving tumor growth and metastasis in triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC).

AAVR Expression is Essential for AAV Vector Transduction in Sensory Hair Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Decreased sensitivity to AAV vector transduction in the outer hair cells (OHCs) of adult mice is primarily attributed to reduction of AAVR (Kiaa0319l; Au040320). Knockout of AAVR reduces AAV vector transduction efficiency in both inner hair cells (IHCs) and OHCs in neonatal mice.
