Bilateral Femoral Neck Fracture-Related Hyperparathyroidism

open access: yesEurasian Journal of Medicine, 2011
Bilateral femoral neck fracture is not common as unilateral femoral fracture. Femoral neck fracture generally occurs by the high energized traumas. Traffic accidents and fallings are the most common reason for this fracture kind.

Outcomes of Subcapital Femoral Fracture after a Fixation of an Intertrochanteric Fracture with a Proximal Femoral Nail: Case Report

open access: yesCase Reports in Orthopedic Research, 2021
Proximal femoral fractures are a common injury that represents an important cause of hospitalization, morbidity, and mortality in elderly patients. Subcapital femoral neck fracture after fixation of an intertrochanteric fracture with a proximal femoral ...

Biomaterials‐Based Hydrogel with Superior Bio‐Mimetic Ionic Conductivity and Tissue‐Matching Softness for Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
By mimicking the ion‐accelerating effect of ion channel receptors in neuron membranes, a biomaterials‐based ionic hydrogel (BIH) is developed, which offers a high ionic conductivity of 7.04 S m−1, outperforming conventional chitosan, cellulose, agarose, starch, and gelatin based ionic hydrogels.

Association of schizophrenia with fracture‐related femoral neck displacement: A cross‐sectional retrospective study

open access: yesPCN Reports
Aim Fracture‐related femoral neck displacement is more likely in patients with schizophrenia because of delayed diagnosis, as these patients frequently have less severe fracture‐associated subjective symptoms.

Traumatic anterior hip dislocation with associated bilateral femoral fractures in a child: a case report and review of the literature

open access: yesThe Pan African Medical Journal, 2019
Traumatic anterior hip dislocation is rare, because the hip joint is a highly stable joint. It is extremely rare for the anterior hip dislocation with combined bilateral femoral fracture in children.

Reduction of femoral fractures in long-term care facilities: the Bavarian fracture prevention study. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
BackgroundHip fractures are a major public health burden. In industrialized countries about 20% of all femoral fractures occur in care dependent persons living in nursing care and assisted living facilities.

Platelet Lysate–Enriched Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell–Derived Chondrocyte Sheets for Bone Defect Repair via Endochondral Ossification

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Human iPSC‐derived hypertrophic chondrocyte sheet promotes bone regeneration. Abstract Bone defects are a major clinical challenge, primarily owing to the limited self‐healing capacity of bones and the high risk of complications associated with conventional treatment strategies.

Characterization of an Injectable Poly(vinyl alcohol)‐gelatin Hydrogel for Growth Factor Delivery in an Orthopedic Application

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces photo‐crosslinkable tyraminated poly(vinyl alcohol)‐gelatin (PVA‐GT) hydrogels as tunable injectable platforms for tissue engineering and growth factor delivery applications. This schematic illustrates the two developed hydrogel formulations and the experimental workflow used to evaluate their physico‐chemical properties in vitro ...

Biomechanical analysis of the placement of fixation lag screw in different intertrochanteric hip fracture angles

open access: yesBiosurface and Biotribology, 2019
The common surgical method for fracture fixation in the femoral neck and intertrochanteric region is the implantation a dynamic lag screw into the femoral head.
