Is Collum Femoris Preserving Stem (CFP) an Epiphyseal‐Stabilized Prosthesis? A Long‐Term Single‐Center Series Follow Up of 705 Cases

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, EarlyView.
The Collum Femoris Preserving (CFP) stem, designed to minimize stress shielding and preserve femoral neck bone stock, demonstrated a 95.32% long‐term survival rate over 10.4 years. Radiographic findings revealed significant proximal femoral bone resorption and distal femoral sclerosis, redefining CFP stems as distal‐stabilized rather than epiphyseal ...

Total Hip Arthroplasty Stems and Femur Strain During Implant Insertion: A Biomechanical Study of Single Taper, Double Taper, and Collared Monolithic Stems

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, EarlyView.
Stem design significantly affects strain patterns on the proximal femur during total hip arthroplasty. Collared stems induce compressive strain medially, while double taper stems compress laterally. These findings provide insights to reduce intraoperative periprosthetic femur fracture risk and guide ideal implant selection.

Engineered surface strategies to manage dental implant‐related infections

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract When exposed to the oral environment, dental implants, like natural surfaces, become substrates for microbial adhesion and accumulation, often leading to implant‐related infections—one of the main causes of implant failure. These failures impose significant costs on patients, clinicians, and healthcare systems.

Distal femoral shortening osteotomy for managing irreducible hips during total hip replacement in four dogs with severe luxoid hips

open access: yesVeterinary Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives To describe the surgical technique and clinical outcomes of distal femoral shortening osteotomy (DFSO) to facilitate prosthesis reduction in dogs with irreducible luxoid hips undergoing total hip replacement (THR). Animals Four client‐owned dogs with luxoid hips. Study design Short case series.

Medium‐term outcomes of hybrid total hip arthroplasty in cats: Cemented femoral stem and cementless acetabular cup in 17 hips (2020–2023)

open access: yesVeterinary Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To describe the surgical technique, complications and outcome of hybrid total hip replacement (THR) in cats using a BioMedtrix cemented femoral stem and cementless acetabular cup. Study design A retrospective case series. Animals Cats undergoing hybrid THR between 2020 and 2023. Methods The present study was a retrospective review of
