C$_{60}$ in intense femtosecond laser pulses: nonlinear dipole response and ionization

open access: yes, 2001
We study the interaction of strong femtosecond laser pulses with the C$_{60}$ molecule employing time-dependent density functional theory with the ionic background treated in a jellium approximation.

Femtosecond Laser Nanostructuring of Metals

open access: yesFrontiers in Optics, 2006
In this paper, we report on various nanostructures produced through direct surface modification on metals using femtosecond laser pulses. We show, for the first time, that these nanosctructures are natural consequence following femtosecond laser ablation. The optimal conditions for producing various nanostructures are determined.

Intrabandgap States Engineering in Functionalized Nanodiamond to Generate Solvated Electrons for Photocatalysis Under Solar Illumination

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The negative electron affinity of diamond allows to emit highly reductive electrons. By introducing intra‐bandgap states and an optimized electron transfer mechanism by surface functionalization with Ru(bpy)3, the formation of solvated electrons is achieved upon solar irradiation.

Femtosecond Laser Drilling of Cylindrical Holes for Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) Composites

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
Ultrafast laser drilling has been proven to effectively reduce the heat-affected zone (HAZ) of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites. However, previous research mainly focused on the effects of picosecond laser parameters on CFRP drilling ...

Shaping Ti3C2 MXene Nanospheres for Precision Near‐Infrared Photothermal Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we report producing spherical MXenes via fs laser fragmentation of Ti3C2 flakes in liquid medium. The nanoparticles demonstrated pronounced light absorption and high photothermal conversion efficiencies of 68% and 63% under heating with NIR‐I and NIR‐II lasers, respectively.

Free-radical fluorescence emissions induced by 1,030 nm femtosecond laser filamentation in ethanol flame

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2022
We experimentally investigated clean optical emissions from multiple combustion intermediates including free radicals C2, CH, and CN at multiple wavelengths induced by ultrashort 1,030-nm laser pulses.

Amplitude to phase conversion of InGaAs pin photo-diodes for femtosecond lasers microwave signal generation

open access: yes, 2011
When a photo-diode is illuminated by a pulse train from a femtosecond laser, it generates microwaves components at the harmonics of the repetition rate within its bandwidth.

Femtosecond electrons probing currents and atomic structure in nanomaterials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The investigation of ultrafast electronic and structural dynamics in low-dimensional systems like nanowires and two-dimensional materials requires femtosecond probes providing high spatial resolution and strong interaction with small volume samples.

Observation of Two‐Photon Resonant Raman Scattering via the Biexciton Level in Two‐Dimensional Halide Perovskite (C6H5C2H4NH3)2PbI4

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Efficient two‐photon resonant Raman scattering (TRRS) is observed in the layered perovskite (PEA)2PbI4, with the biexciton level acting as an intermediate state. TRRS undergoes two‐photon frequency shift upon input frequency tuning, persists up to 90 K, and shows clear threshold behavior and polarization selection rules.
