For the observation of micromechanical devices, a fast imaging technique with high temporal resolution is needed. Here, we demonstrate that a standard scanning electron microscope can be converted into a time‐resolving instrument using a fast detector and a time‐to‐digital converter.

Despite increased hardness, elevated tramp element concentrations in a ferritic‐pearlitic low‐carbon steel lead to enhanced toughness accompanied by a more homogeneous and finer ferritic microstructure. Atom probe tomography reveals pronounced segregation of some tramp elements at grain boundaries and ferrite–cementite interfaces, together with ...

Tracking Photocatalytic Pathways With In Situ Surface‐Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy
In situ SERS captures surface molecular fingerprints during photocatalysis, revealing transient intermediates, bond evolution, pathway selectivity, and charge‐coupled molecular transformation beyond catalyst‐ or product‐centered characterization. This review maps SERS‐active platforms and future site‐specific, time‐resolved, intelligent strategies for ...

Advancing collagen‐related pathology assessment through second‐harmonic generation imaging
Abstract Collagen remodelling and dysregulation are the hallmarks of diverse pathological conditions. In this context, second‐harmonic generation (SHG) imaging has emerged as a powerful label‐free modality for assessing collagen. This offers submicron resolution, intrinsic optical sectioning, and deeper imaging capabilities without the need for ...

Abstract Confocal microscopes increase the resolution of images by rejecting unwanted data from the out of focus regions of the specimen. This incurs a penalty in the recorded signal to noise ratio that may be partially ameliorated by inputting additional information during image processing.

Abstract Purpose This study aimed to compare the effects of surface treatment protocols on the surface roughness and shear bond strength (SBS) of a three‐dimensional (3D)‐printable resin for definitive crowns. Materials and Methods A 3D‐printable resin for definitive crowns (Saremco Print Crowntec) was used to produce 168 specimens (10 × 10 × 2 mm3 ...

Superresolved femtosecond laser ablation
Optics Letters, 2007The determinist behavior of the femtosecond ablation process allows morphing features well under the diffraction limit by utilizing the thresholding effect, down to the nanometer scale. Because there are a vast range of applications where scaling down the size of the features is a major concern, we investigate the use of superresolving pupil plane ...

Femtosecond uv excimer laser ablation
Applied Physics B Photophysics and Laser Chemistry, 1987Experiments on the ablation of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) with 300 fs uv excimer laser pulses at 248 nm are reported for the first time. With these ultrashort pulses, ablation can be done at fluences up to five times lower than the threshold fluence for 16 ns ablation of PMMA, and the surface morphology is improved, also for several other materials.

Surface Properties of Femtosecond Laser Ablated PMMA
ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2010The effects of femtosecond laser ablation on the physical and chemical properties at the surface of poly methylmethacrylate (PMMA) were studied. Femtosecond laser microfabrication caused the initially wetting behavior of PMMA to become nonwetting, mainly because of the laser-induced surface porosity at the submicroscale.
